You all know I bought this for my Bubble Party business primarily, but also as a ceremony and backup system. ( or many of you do, anyway ).

I got it on Friday night.... getting it out of the box is harder than getting it up and running. Once it was out of the box it was up in 5 or 6 minutes.

It comes with the amp / mixer / 2 HH mics, and the cables you need to hook it all up. It has 4 mic inputs and ONLY 2 stereo line inputs... which makes sense, if you think about it. I wish it had another stereo input, but this will be just fine. ( or I could just run stuff through a mixer into a single channel, I guess, if I need more inputs )

The PD-250 varies from the P-250 only in that the PD has Bose made speakers ( still labelled as Fender ). The 250 is for 250 watts.

I hook up my iPod and crank it up, using mostly 320 mp3's and iTunes AAC files. To "my" ears the 320 encoded MP3's aounded far better than the AAC files. I was able to crank it up to about 90% of max volume before any noticeable distortion.

I will say that I don't think I would use this as an actual DJ sytstem for very many events, though some do. It doesn't have enough "ooomph" to really do that for me. However, I would say it could fill a room for 100 people with reasonable sound levels.

I absolutely would use it as a backup system for emergencies, It will be wonderful for ceremonies and coctail rooms. And it will be PERFECT for the Bubble Party business.

One thing that bothered me was that it didn't have voice attenuation..... OR SO I THOUGHT! Without having read the manual, this is what I was thinking might be the only downside to a unit like this... but then I read the manual and it does have it! They call it the VIP ( Vocal Input Priority ) control, for channel 1. Excellent! ( I haven't tried it yet )

The 2 included mics are "fine". They aren't Shure SM-57 or 58 quality, but hey, I have those anyway... they work and sound as you would expect.

The speakers hook up with 1/4" connections. I plan to buy better cables than the ones supplied.

I paid "about" $675 including shipping and a 3% charge for paying via credit card.

If I had it to do again, I would, or I might go to the 500 model for a little more "ooomph".... but that one is about another $300 - $400. Overall, I am really delighted with this purchase. Can't wait to put it to good use, and make lotsa Bubble party cash! :sqwink:

Cool. :)

These rigs are excellent for ceremonies and other medium-duty PA apps. I've read some good reviews on the Passport over the years. From what I understand, the Passport does quite well for outdoor ceremonies, too.

You may not need to replace the speaker cables. Unless you feel they're of lesser quality than you prefer, that is.

My concern is that they could be easily cut or sliced.

Papa,

I have owned the P150 and P250 since they came out, I am still using the origional cables with both units.

The great thing about these units is that the speakers and amp sections can be easily hidden both in indoor and outdoor applications. For ceromony applications I don't think there is another system that can even come close.

Small house parties the 250 more than fits the bill. I rent both the 150 and 250 out on a regular basis for corporate sound systems where they want a little amplification for speeches. Little kids parties, they are perfect.

Congrats on the best purchase you have ever made.

BTW if they still use it be sure and keep the little air vent foam filter clean.
