You can't be serious! I think thats the greatest ad I've ever seen! :sqlaugh:

It's sad indeed that things have come to this. Times are hard right now and many people are out of work. Many people have lost their homes. Everyone has to put food on the table.

But honestly, what does $50.00 buy anymore? :dontknow:

Gram of coke!

He's no kid Patrick that's the scary part. I have no idea what he uses for gear or music but just calculating the 6 hours perform time he is making less than minimum wage in Nove Scotia. That's not including drive time, setup and tear down time, and any planning time, which there wouldn't be much on this event..

In reality he might be making 6 bucks an hour. Someone should tell him McDonalds is hiring
Even at 4 dollars an hour I'd rather flip the wax than flip double stacks!

What about the other option...

There's a lot of people out of work at the moment, with no prospect of a regular paying job in the immediate future, and unemployment benefits have run out for them.

If you had the equipment and music -- would you go ballistic lowball to feed your family -- or would you go out and collect cans to recycle...?
I would go ballistic lowball to feed my family!
Thanks Rick. Nice perspective!

Are you looking for clients who buy 20 years old Fords or brand new BMW's and Acuras?
The way I see it is that over 50% of people here in Toronto drive BMW, Lexus, Land rover, Audi, Volvo...(put your favorite imported brand here) cars and that's the market I'm after.
Now, your mileage may vary but principle is still the same, your standards have to go only one way - up. Quickly... If you want to be ahead of the game.

50$ or 500$ Dj's don't make me sweat. I'm years ahead of them. I know my value and my clients do. What is this site called craiglist anyway?

My experience is that yes, over 50% of people do drive BMW, Lexus, Land rover, Audi, Volvo etc. and I find that only about 10% of them can afford to do so, so 90% of that 50% of those people are looking for a way to cut your price.

The people that live within their means are much more likely to be willing to pay a larger percentage of their budget for entertainment rather than fluff!

Thunder, from my DJ experience people usually spend 50% more than quoted price.
They are emotional buyers (that's why they drive such expensive cars ) and that's what I'm trying to offer - emotions and dreams.

We all know they want quality Dj and MC, but than it would be nice to have some club lights, dry ice effect, slide show, up lighting, monograms, glow in the dark toys, etc....

I wish my clients were like yours I would love for my clients to be quoted $1000 and say what the heck here is $1500!

I'd just like to find a client willing to pay $1000 :sqerr:

With regards to living within their means. If it comes down to someone's Beemer that they really can't afford in the first place or a pricy DJ, the pricy DJ is gonna lose.

they will literally live in the Beemer and most likely wont resort to shacking up with a DJ.

See guys, I don't judge my clients. All i care is to make sure that everytime they going to talk about their wedding, they will smile...
