700$ need a system

Howdy!

I live in a very active house. We throw a party or 2 every weekend. Everyone we know comes over after closing. I need a new PA system to entertain. I only have about 700$ to spend on it. What I need is basicly the best bang for the buck I can get.

I just checked out my friends system with 2 EAP-215D powered by a 4000 Watt Pyramid PA Amplifier. I was supprised it sounded better then the local samson options. It was VERY clear and did not break up near peak. Problem is that setup is a tad over my budget.

I have a high end computer that will act as and a cheap samson mixer and access to any software I could ever ask for. I will be using remote software via a laptop and 40ft cables to move my system around the house. So its all down to the amp and speakers.

This system will get alot of use. I mean every day and tons of abuse on the weekends. We play alot of metal and new-wave, techno ect. Abusive music all around. I dont expect the system to last more then a year at most.

Thanks in advance for all your help. I sure need it. I would hate to end up with gemsound in my house or gemini.

Note: Those EAP speakers my buds are using are alot better then you would think for the price. I am super impressed. They are on par imo with the sound and abuse the EV models for double the price take so far.

I have tried the PD-250 and the new delux. Its more of a vocal setup then a music system. My friends band uses the delux setup on small gigs when doing acustics and it sounds great. Terrible for music though..

While I disagree, $700 isn't getting you much that is all that good no matter what you buy.
 
I would look into a used set of Mackie SRM 450's. You may be able to find a set for 700.00 or less. They have a built in shut down feature. When they get too hot they just cut off..:sqerr:

Or you can buy the new Bose Techno Stick for a few hundred more. You can rock a crowd of a 1000 with just one.
 
ezee is right, the B-52 Matrix 1000 is exactly what you need if you only have $700 to spend. There's not much else you can get with such a small budget. You could get a pair of Carvin LM12 powered speakers, but with the B-52 Matrix 1000 you get a powered subwoofer included in the package.
 
That S-408 Quad looks really interesting Cam. If it wasn't made by Mackie I'd be extremely interested especially at that price point. I wonder how it sounds??? If it sounds good I'd rate it a bargain. Mount it over a sub and you could have yourself a decent little system.
 
Wiz- its a passive cabinet, even if its a Mckie there is less risk compared to the actives. If it really puts out 600 RMS then its an awesome price point.

Whats more interesting is the matching subwoofer, it has 4 10" drivers just like Bass guitar players and the price point is not bad either. It also supposed to be 750 watts RMS.

I would love to hear a pair of those Quad 8s with a pair of those Quad 10 subs. I am not a Mackie fan at all, but I am intrigued and was not aware of these speakers. I'm not going to be satisfied till I hear them. I wonder how they compare to my Electro Voice Zx1/Sb122 system? Cam yer killin' me. Ignorance is bliss.
