$200 ish budget.

The kid is already playing musical instruments. So she is serious at least.

I'm suggesting at least a $300 budget to the parents...but let's just assume they just want the software/controller or a stand alone solution.

I use VDJ for now but that is out of the question at this budget. Do you know of any controllers out there with some sort of bundled software? Maybe we should just Rick Roll her with Rockit? Maybe all they should do is concentrate on software first?

I dunno....what say you?

You might try the Numark Mix Track II comes with VDJ LE and cost less than $150.00. I run a pair of Numark Mix Deck Expresses, so far they have been good, but Numark support is not much to brag on, nothing like EV or even American DJ.

The Numark DJ2GO is less than $50 and includes VDJ LE and works quite well. You can add a set of powered monitors to the laptop for less than $200.

That was my first choice.

Followed by this choice and the idea of having some monitors is incredible smart. I don't know what they planned on having other than "they would figure that out".....I'm kind of thinking monitors would make the experience from the get go so much better....Suggestions on monitors?

The KRKs are a nice monitor we use them at work in two of the studios
