Looks like my van was stolen.

Not to hijack this thread, its a sad thing to read. But whats the process in insuring all the gear we buy? I seen dj insurance companies but also read where some used their car/house insurances to cover it all in case of fire, water damage and theft.

Thoughts on which route to go
Usually, the company that offers you their DJ liability insurance can also offer you insurance on the equipment. Djtasco also mentioned another route. I thought I’ve heard of some using an umbrella policy which they pay to also insure their business. You should talk to your insurance agent. I use a company that specializes in insuring people in the entertainment business when I have an issue with insurance I can call my contact who understands the insurance as it relates to DJ services. I deal with municipalities, governmental agencies, and universities and sometimes insurance requirements and contracts get a little complex. One of the first things you should do is make a list of all of your equipment with serial numbers and take photos.

An umbrella insurance policy, at least the one offered to me, covers you in terms of liability beyond the scope or amount that the standard business liability insurance covers. This is usually in instances of when you are the one responsible for the liability such as property damage, physical harm to someone else or your employee, or tarnishing another businesses reputation falsely.

As another site put it: "Let’s say a fire significantly damages your business’ equipment. The cost to replace and repair your property exceeds your commercial property limits. You’d have to cover the difference out of pocket because commercial umbrella insurance doesn’t cover business property claims."

There's a guy on Craigslist NJ North Jersey has a Denon DN MC 6000 controller and he wants $350. Original the price was $395. I didn't notice till I looked again and saw he has other things for sell. He has a pair of Yorkville 12" active tops for $450. For those who don't know we have a pair of Yorkville 801P subs. Yorkville makes some great speakers. I would love to see them and see if I could buy them. I have a nice Shure wired mic I can use. I can easily get wires to use. My obsession is kicking in. I plan on making it happen. I'm not ready to retire yet. I told my best friends wife I had to come back to do their 40th wedding anniversary next year. I'm listening to the song by Billy Joel Keeping The Faith.

Every single person on here telling you now is the time to downsize and get smaller easier to move gear and you didn’t listen to a single one of them,
And you wonder why you are constantly ridiculed on this forum

If the controller is used you can do better than that on price offer him $300 tops. The NX25s are a quality box if you can get your hands on the 55s you would be even better served

The NX25s are smaller than what he was using but he still has to lift them I do get what you mean

Also don’t you need to make sure your have the money to cover your deductible before you start thinking about new gear

2 things. First I might not have to pay the deductible the way the lady was talking and I'm not doing anything till I get the van back.

Buying gear today for a single gig NEXT YEAR is a horrible idea.

There is no need to buy anything at all. Wait until you have a deposit in hand and a definitive plan about what (if anything) is needed.

Mixy, Maybe your church would take up an extra collection so as to help you out?

Or the groups and people you did free stuff for maybe can donate a bit

I just found out today that it looks like I will be getting the van back on Monday and it looks like they stole the radio as well. The funny thing of that is the radio wasn't working properly.

In that case don't buy a used radio at the local pawn shop
