No but since they insist I get something they want me to have, why not have them buy it for me and save me the trouble of buying it.

I don't think it's that someone insists you get something they want you to have - it's people telling you what you had was better than what you're getting/now have. It seems that you like to downgrade vs upgrade.

Why is that sad? I've used it when I needed to for a song request that I can't find or don't have and that's it.
I think the point is, if you can go to youtube... you can also go to itunes or amazon or wherever else you buy your music from... assumin you do... and get the song from there just as quickly and easily, and in higher quality.
