Last Saturday's ceremony and reception was booked with a 5 hour reception package. They wanted my largest system with lights, ceremony on the beach.

Dinner was very formal and 7 courses long, it was over 3 and 1/2 hours. After dinner the entertainment was Polynesian dancers. They were spectacular! I can only imagine that Chuck sees a similar event commonly. Four female dancers and three male dancers, dance coordinator and drums from Tahiti were played, we provided the sound system. Very talented group.

After they finished there was 45 minutes of dance music left.

Everything was great, I just wish that I would have had more of a clue what was going on in advance. I wasn't told about the dancers until 2 hours of dinner was over. The length of dinner was also not explained to me, let me tell you, I usually cannot wait until dinner is over so we can start the party. Three and a half hours is a very long time. From what I was told the food melted in your mouth. Other than everything happening that I wasn't ready for, it went really well, completely different than what we are accustomed to.

I have another wedding there in April, at least this time I will know what to expect.

Reminds me of a traditional Chinese wedding I attended once (nine courses).

Yes...we have done a number of Chinese weddings and it is all about the food. You are lucky if you get the last hour for dancing with the yougner guests. After the meal all the older folks take their doggy bags and leave.

What johnny said!
Good job C give me a ring. I have a afternoon short school Halloween Dance.

Same with a Vietnamese wedding I did.
In fact, I just let a dude with a keyboard tap into my gear, and the vocalist used my mic. They did family Karaoke all night. Unbelievably talented keyboardist. very complete library all in his head. He filled vietnamese and American music all night long. He took requests just like a KJ and then played it on the keyboard!

Dinner was 8 or 9 courses. A bottle of cognac at every table and nothing but Heinekin for beer. Sorry if misspelled.

Then all they wanted from me was Hip Hop and Techno...

wow....Loved it. They made me eat....it was an insult if I didn't. All seafood and AWESOME!

To me, this sounds kind of selfish on the B&G's part.

Yes, I get that it is their day and they can do it how they want. But a three and a half hour meal is completely unrealistic for a room full of people to sit through with any comfort.

Or maybe I just have not DJed for so long, it just sounds like torture to me, lol
