2 Mini Line Dancers & A Vue III

Rob,

Just a suggestion for a slimmer different look......

Invest in 3 "O" clamps and omit the T-bar.

Use your tripod extended as far up as possible. Put the Vue at the top (pointed down). Just under that, put 1 mini line dancer (pointed down) and on one leg of the tripod, mount the second line dancer pointed up at the celing. This should fill the room pretty well for small lights.

On a side note, I love the line dancers but have never owned one. A local DJ puts his on a chair in the corner, hangs a black drape over the chair so you can't see the light and uses it to light the corner and the celing for spotlight dances.

I have two O-claps and since the t-bar has mounting hardware i was considering mounting the Vue III with the 2 o-clamps so that i can center mount it of above the t-bar and point it down then mount the 2 linedancers on each end of the t-bar pointing down and slightly in at the dance floor

You'd be better off putting the Vue on the floor and aiming it at the ceiling. It's one of those lights that doesn't make much impact on the dancefloor but makes a huge impact above the dancefloor. The farther away from the ceiling, the larger the beam spread, the bigger the effect.

Then put the 2 Line Dancers on the T bar pointing at the dancefloor.

Also, don't put your speakers up as high as they can go. This increases the likelihood of slapback. I position them so the woofer is at eye level (or so). That way, the majority of the sound is on the dancefloor, can still be heard throughout the hall, but isn't in your face.

Gig Pics From 9/15

Well I ended up putting the vue III and the linedancers on the t-bar with the vue III as the center piece light and the dancers on each end.....

LOL I was blessing GC because I had just bought the stand and didn't find a smaller extention bar that was suppose to be what the t-bar was set on so at the show I stretched the damn connector almost to breaking to get it on... it wasn't 'til I got home and just happened to tip the stand upside down that I discovered the extention pole...:sqerr:

I would have had more pics but I wanted to use the camera to shoot some video too so here's a pic of the cake and my setup...

The Vue III looked very cool pointing at the floor most of the dancing took place towards the front of the room until we got to the Cha Cha Slide then they just seemed to keep getting closer and closer to me... lol

What was not as good were the line dancers... not nearly bright enough even for this small room... will be upgrading soon. Wink Wink, Venders..:sqwink:

My dance floor was never empty once open dancing was announced be it some of the kids or just a few adults there was always someone dancing and a lot of group dancers... some dirty dancers... and some slow dancers...

Everyone had a ball....

This was my 3rd wedding and based on the smiles and the dancing I'd say it was a huge success.

One opps though when I announced that the maid of honor was going to make a speach I simply called her a brides maid...:sqembarrassed:

And of all the songs they could request there was one song that they did and I didn't have....:sqfrown: Ice Ice Baby ~ Vanilla Ice. The bride thought she had requested it but I had a print out I was working from to be sure I played her requests and it wasn't on there... I appologized and she was ok with that. But, I still felt bad. Why the heck don't I have that darn song... grrrr! O Well I will have it next time!

Hey Rob,

Coingrats on the sucess!

Just a couple of things that "I" do that are a little different....

I keep the draped banquet table behind my booth. It works great for me to hide my sub and any extra rack gear that I need to bring. And when I still used the T-Bar, I had to hang my lights on the bottom of the T. As the bar was used it started to wear the weight on the top of the bar would roll over. Thats why my lights were on the bottom.

Oh...and if you decide the sell the line dancers when you upgrade, lemme know. I have a perfect use for them. :)

Thanks...

Yeah I had to tighten the t-bracket because it did turn over when I let go of the Vue III after installing the two mini line dancers.... and yeah after last night i will be mounting the line dancers or whatever I upgrade to under instead of over... but the vue III hmmmm either i mount that off center and below, on the floor or over and centered.... I did it as you see from the pics this way because I wanted my light stand to not only be balanced, weight wise, but also look balanced. know what i mean.

??? you'd really want the mini line dancers.... you know they have a duty cycle right?

I admit they do look good in smaller rooms... i bet if i had mounted them under instead of over the projection from them might have been better but they certainly aren't very bright.... I had better luck with them mounted less than 6' up but then they flash right in the eyes.

PS I got a huge hug from the Maid of Honor and one of the other Brides Maids, as I was loading out.... said they had a wonderful time and thanked me for giving it to 'em... good thing my wife didn't see... she was the big hair you could see behind my monitor, my wife that is.... lol

Never, ever, ever, ever, do an event without The Vanilla Ice-Man...:sqwink:

Make sure that you carry with you the Top 200 of all time as a safety cushion...:sqembarrassed:

This is why I do it

Getting an email like this even as short as it is makes all the effort worth while to me....

I think it is very awesome that you did record those for us. i wish you
could have gotten the maid of honor speech and the rest of the dances.
those would have been nice to have on video.

thanks again for all your work. you made our night special.

Unfortunately my batteries died just as we were getting ready for the speaches and toasts and had to send the wife out to the car for more she found only one set and I was able to get the Best Man's speach and toast and the B&G plus a partial of the FOB/B dance.... I sent them an email with a link to google video with the video's...

I shooting video from a 5 megapixel digital camera so it wasn't the greatest nor the most professional way to shoot. I was doing mostly because my boss at my day job wanted to see my work. Next week he is loaning me his video camera... so I can get better video this time. Nice boss he seems genuinly interested in my DJ business. Maybe he will hire me as the in-house entertainment for one of the hotels he owns... that'd be nice.

Yep.
I drape my speakers with a black drape that is just heavy enough to still let light thru. I would mount one on the tripod leg and shoot it upwards at the speaker. I believe it would give a cool effect.

Oh, and if you upgrade, you can still leave the vue on top of the T and the weight of you new lights on the underside should help offset some of the twisting.

That's what I was thinkin too... but I'm gonna try mounting the vue III from under on one side and put the line dancers on the other side under as well for an engagement party I'm doin' the 29th to see how it looks that way before I ditch the line dancers all together.
