Hey everyone, I'm Josh and I am a co-founder of DemandDJ, LLC. I'm new to this forum, so I just wanted to introduce myself to you all and let you know that our subscription-based service is currently available to every DJ in the United States. With Demand DJ, we created a new service that allows DJ's to get paid for playing someone's song request (*Patent Pending*). Essentially, the service brings the request process remote, allowing fans to submit requests to you for a small fee, and then you get paid if you accept and play the request.

As a company, we are striving to make the request process more convenient and rewarding for the DJ. It can be really irritating have fans crowd your set, step on cords, and even spill drinks just to shout a request to you. We know that some requests may not even fit the theme of the night, so DJ's are allowed to accept or reject any request, getting paid for those they accept and play. Our service is subscription based, at $2.49 a week, you can break even with just 1 request and receive the rest of the profit.

Our startup company is growing and we are always looking for more DJ's to join. We are really active on Instagram and I encourage you all to go visit our pages! My page is @demanddjcoo. Any questions, concerns, or even tips for improvement are welcome . Also, you can visit our website at www.demanddj.com.

I look forward to talking to you all and thank you for allowing me to join this DJ community! I hope our service can help some of you out there.

Welcome aboard Josh. You're welcome to post an intro about yourself and your service. Please understand we aren't a swap meet. Constant self promotion will get your posts removed quick. We're happy to have you. Post around and get to know some people. We have a great group of DJs here. :)

Welcome here Josh. I got to say I don't see anyone paying for requesting a DJ play a certain song when people have been doing this for years for free. It's just part of the job for me. Including knowing when a request is not appropriate for a particular event. Please let us know if it works or not.

Nice to meet you. What's your background as a DJ?

When I was in college, I would DJ some campus events and parties. But graduating with a business degree and the small experience with that, I noticed the issue that DJ’s sometimes deal with for requests. So with our company we are trying to help out DJ’s the best we can.

To those who have replied, hello and thanks for the response! We’ve been noticing that a lot of DJ’s for private events don’t fit the scheme of the service, as it is mostly directed to public club/bar DJ’s.

Really what we want to do is help DJ’s out because we see that there really isn’t a real way to field requests without a crowd around you. Any tips to extend this to private DJ’s are more than welcome.

So, you have to communicate to your guests to go to a website with their cell phones, then enter their requests. Why not just give them a cell or google number where they can text their requests? I've done this for years and just not seeing the benefit of having service that's likely more complicated for the guests to use.

There are at least two others that I'm aware of.... the only worthy difference I can see is that yours turns requesting songs into a pay-to-play situation whereas the others are either free or charge the DJ for the privilege of using the service. I guess the obvious caveats are that a) the most popular club DJs don't take requests, and b) average bar DJs are working to please the owner of the bar as much as they're trying to please the fans. It seems to me that in the second scenario, the bar owner would want a cut of the profit if there's any to be made.

It could be said that you're turning the DJ into a slighty more selective TouchTunes jukebox, no?

Maybe a service that the DJ subscribes to, and the DJ has the choice to offer it to guests for free?
Make money from selling ads?

You know, I didn't even think of that aspect. Thinking some guest is going to put in their credit card # into a web app, and then pay a DJ to play their song is about the dumbest idea I've seen come down the pike in a long time.

Most use twitter for this sort of thing , but there are apps/services.

My question is how much money can a DJ make from this in one day/night or event? Is it really enough money to get crazy over?

...says the guy who charges admission to his own birthday party and goes out to DJ for nearly nothing.

i see a problem/issue with the name “demand”. I really don’t want anyone demanding anything except if their name is on the contract.

VDJ has Ask the DJ, I tried it at home, since it isintergraternwith virtual DJ. Requests come up right in to your queue. Then there is a way to setup up to receive tips if you want via paypal I think. You can also message back the requestor.

Personally I like seeing the person making the request even when doing karaoke. But I might use Ask the DJ for karaoke one day

How much do you need to make from a service that you get for $2.49 a week? If you made $10 you quadrupled your money with no work.

It's not my thing but I could see it working in large clube

I appreciate the problem you're trying to solve. But I personally prefer as few requests as possible. So even if I made a few bucks doing this... I don't want to encourage more requests when I'm DJing.
