I just saw the Yamaha DSR 215 speaker. I got a very special event I'm doing on September the 9th and was thinking of getting a pair of those speakers to go with the DSR 115's I already have. This room is large and I need some big sound. What are your thoughts of those speakers if you please? I love the ones I have now and just wanted to throw it out here to see what others think of these speakers.

The setup if I go with these speakers will be the 2 DSR 115's I have right now along with those speakers and a pair of Earthquakes. The older model ones that are non powered. We would use the 801p subs but this venue has no elevator. So it would be easier moving the Earthquakes up the stairs.

For 1 event .. why would you "get" these? Rent an appropriate setup and be done. And if the room is big enough, bring the Yorkvilles and hire a kid or 2 to move them.

And how large a room is this without elevator access???? Seems it would be a disability act issue.

Why Why Why, Mix, have you used your business model to see how many gigs you would have to do to pay for these speakers, You have enough gear for just about any normal gig sound wise, you don't need these, you have to have new speakers you would be better off to buy another set of what you already have and use 4 of them. These are 110 lbs each just 27 pounds lighter than the the subs you can't use because they are to heavy, do you ever think logically before you put your ideas on the forum

I was looking at getting these and selling the S215's I have now. This is about other big things in the future coming up. Just wanted to know your thoughts on these speakers.

Old technology Double 15's are a horrible compromise, if I had what you has I would look for another pair of the DSR 115's sell the earthquakes, S215's and the amp that you have, 4 DSR 115's over two 801p's are more sound that you will ever need, truthfully if you would just sell everything and buy a RCF EVOX 12 you would have more than you would need for any event that you do and they would be lightweight enough that you could handle them on your own, without having to enlist help all of the time, We all know you won't listen to a thing we say here, I look forward to your report on how great these speakers are but they are just to heavy to use all the time

Mix buy a pair of these they will match up nicely with your LS800 and take care of any big room you can find

By the way mix most of the earthquake subs that have been manufactured weigh more than your yorkvilles
Sorry you're wrong. The Yorkville subs weight 137 pounds each and the Earthquakes are lighter. What I should have asked has anyone heard or owned these speakers?

That Evox would be a joke in a room this big but thanks anyway.

I think you better get a new scale

Trust me I've moved both of them out of the basement and trust me the Earthquakes are lighter for sure. I could actually move the Earthquakes myself out the basement. Just that they are big and awkward. Well I do have to remember my back issue. My mind will tell me one thing and my back something else.

Mix - How big of a place is this? You'd need 400+ people to need more than a RCF EVOX 12 or something similar. Are you planning more than that???

Take the driver out they are at least 40 pounds lighter ;)

It's easier to move because of the height and where the handles are located
The ones I have got handles and wheels which makes it easier to move instead of the ones that don't.

They'd also cost him $4000 that he doesn't have. Based on his older posts about how to fix blemishes on his Yamaha speakers, I think it's fair to say that anything he has now would not fetch top dollar on the used gear market.
