Who has a block party this time of year?

I got a call yesterday asking if I was available for this Saturday to do a block party. I had to turn down the gig as I'm helping out with a function this Saturday and it's from 1-8pm. The block party was to be from 5-10pm. So I just couldn't do it myself.

One of the partners could have done it if he had a driver license and a vehicle. What could have been done was to let them use the dual 15's with their amp since they have the same QSC 2450 amp I do. Too bad. I left them a voice mail with a couple other DJ's number.

Now what I find interesting is the weather is getting cold and at 10pm it might be too cold to be too cold to have people trying to dance at a block party. Also why do some people wait till the last minute to book a DJ? I know sometimes it's because the other DJ they picked backed out. Usually because they have found a gig paying more money. I know that's not a true professional and very sleazy. I just know I've never done that. If I agree to do a gig I stick to my word.
 
You mean like you who is helping out (for free) someone else do a job instead of taking the paying job?
 
I don't think that way your posts have proven this is the way you work. As for people having block parties this time of year. I know a lot of people who have them in September because everyone is back from vacations it isn't 100 degrees out and it is just works out for them better.

It's a bit chilly here and I was thinking by 10pm it would be where you definately would need a jacket on. Besides the news said to expect rain this Saturday. I'm glad I'll be indoors.
 
Mix people do all sorts of Entertainment activities outdoors when it is cold. Think Football Games at Outdoor Stadiums.
 
I would think at 10pm, it might be chilly, but also the end time, so it wouldn't be to bad.... If I was the DJ I would bring a nice coat to put on if it gets that way,,, as far as the rain goes, I would make sure I had covering, just in case,,, and big garbage bags to throw over my stuff in case also.....

Mix .. pick up one of the quality straight leg 10x10 pop-up tents and you can shade yourself during the daylight and cover equipment should it sprinkle.

We hold the Celtic Classic Music Festival and Highland games on the last weekend of September, every year.
And these are guys who wear KILTS.
Trust me, after doing outdoor festivals all summer...
I can't WAIT for it to get cooler.
