How many of you are sick of seeing emails where someone either tells you can make a ton of money if you do this or they send you an email claiming they either have sent you money or have money pending for you if you do this. Some claim that you've already sent them money for a payment and you don't even know who the hell they are. I pass them by as I know nobody is going to give you something and not expect something in return. Most of those things are looking for suckers to sign up or place an order that they think will make them plenty of money. When in reality most will take your money and give you much of nothing if anything at all.

Is there a way you can block those idiots from sending you future emails? I've sent some of them a very nasty reply back. I've actually told some not to send me any more of their s***.

It is called spam. When you reply to the email they know now that you are a real person and they will send you more and more. Delete the emails and never reply. Having a spam filter set to on will help in stopping them from getting in to your mailbox. I could go in to many ways to help you avoid these emails but you will not listen so I will not waste my time.

Hmmmmmmm Mix, you did not mention the Viagra ones. You must like those, eh! I bet the ladies love ya! :bananen_smilies011:

Yup... I got sick & tired of spam years ago. Most spam I get is business-related... sales pitches for office equipment and the like.

The best way to avoid the stuff is to set up a freemail account. Use it when logging in new accounts online. Some companies are worse than others for selling customers' email addys. They'll all deny doing it. :D

Most email utilities offer a domain blocking option. However, if a message is legit, it will also be blocked.

Lately, there's been a USPS scam email making the rounds. Like many, it contains a trojan that can hijack personal information. And like most, it appears to come from the real thing but the sender's addy is spoofed.

Due to the prevalence of spoofing, spam bouncing is pretty much useless today. But I still use Mailwasher to access and filter my email accounts. Mailwasher lets you manage email at the server level; you don't have to bring it into your machine. :)

I have no problem receiving Business related e-mails that some will call spam. If it was not for unwanted ads on TV, the Internet, in Magazines and newspapers etc, we would be unaware of the many new products and other things that exist. Why is it we can go to Yahoo or Google and sign up for free e-mails but we complain when they in turn send stuff to us. Did we really think there will not be a trade off? How long does it take to glance through the e-mails to know what may possibly be spam and what may not? No difference than the snail mail junk mail! Today everyone wants everything their way and have the problems go to someone else. If Power goes on the block and they still have theirs they will be happy as long as it stays that way and does not affect them.

I'm just talking about the ones that claim if you sign on to this you can make a lot of money. All most will do is make the sender a lot of money and leave you broke in the end. The get rich quick thing that some people fall for instead of thinking a thing out as to why this person is telling you this? The funny ones are the ones where they say hello so and so and that's not your name. Those I have sent back a nasty reply telling them that's not my name and stop sending me this stupid s***.

Replying to spam is often futile since the sender's addy is bogus. The messages usually contain a hyperlink they want you to open.

Jimmy's right - replying to an email spam addy confirms your account as legit and active. That in turn opens the floodgates for more spam. "Unsubscribe" links are notorious for this practice.
