I received an add from N.A.M.E. for a country music pool for $15.00 per month. I need to strenghten my country library a bit but don't know anything about a pool. I am a Prime Cuts member and love the disc I get each week, I only purchase a few songs a month since the Prime Cuts membership.

How does the pool work? Will they import into my itunes library as I use itunes and icloud to keep my primary and back up computers updated and the cloud as a back up? Do they only have current releases or do you have access to older hits?

idjpool is the name of the company. Anyone using this, your input would be much apreciated.

Thanks Ray J.

Yes .. normally with a pool (I use idjpool), you download the songs using a ftp client and they end up on your computer in your designated directory structure. Then you merely import them into iTunes and manage the same way as if you ripped them.

The folks at idjpool have been great to work with.

Steve,

Explain the FTP client if you have time.

They recommend a program called FlashFXP. When you sign up, you get a link to download it as well as a free license to use it.

With the program, you log into their FTP site (ftp.idjpool.com) and it works just like a Windows Explorer window. Their file directory on the right and yours on the left. Then you drag and drop files or whole directories over and the FTP program copies them.

I used to have a real basic account .. just the Top 40 and Hot 100 issues. They did away with that level a couple of months ago and basically gave me full access for the same price, which was pretty nice, so I have access to the Country, Urban, Latin and Dance sections as well.

All in all satisfied. Only minor quibble is that they aren't as thorough with MP3 tags (just the basics) as some others, though I had even worse results with another pool.

The country music pool N.A.M.E. is promoting is actually through idjpool.

I have been with them for over a year now and love the service, and the country pool is well worth the money if you need to beef up your country collection.

Country DJ Pool is a country music service for DJs. We have 2 ways to download a basic website browser version that has previews and easy 1 click downloads and a ftp version. The FTP Download Version allows Bulk, Group & Folder Downloads. These are standard mp3 highest quality 320k and work with dj software and mp3 players including itunes.

I would seriously consider calling the RIAA, and verifying any "pools". Most are bogus, and are not paying royalties to the artists.

The RIAA will do an investigation, and let you know the results. The fines can be very heavy -- like $100,000 per song or so.

Just buy the CDs and rip them yourself.

Many of the better pools have been around a long time. IDJPool, the one I use, (also know as countrydjpool for their country tunes) has been around for 28 years.
