Looking in the near future to get a used Pioneer EFX 1000.

I was just looking online for a used Pioneer EFX 1000. I saw some great prices for a used one. Not sure what to buy as I believe there were 2 different models made. The newer model I understand is the one that you can hook up to use with a computer. I think the original one they made you couldn't do that. Please let me know if I'm wrong and what should I look for. I had a Pioneer EFX 500 and found out that since I'm using powered speakers now for most of my setups it wouldn't work. So I don't have it any more. Please give me what experience you have with this please.

We actually saw one in GC for $600.00. I've seen them for a cheaper price used online. Too bad when we saw that one I didn't have the money or I would have bought it.
 
Anytime you've a got a few hundred bucks it just burns a hole in your pocket. Ever thought of saving your money for a rainy day?

Like I said in the near future. I wasn't talking about rushing out tomorrow and get one. It's the toy that I want. Don't you all have a toy that you want and are looking at a way to get it? Probably before I get this it will be the right light for the lighted facade. Can someone just tell me if I'm right or wrong about the Pioneer EFX 1000?
 
Don't know .. never had a need for an effects machine (other than simple eq band kill which I can do on the mixer). My effects are simple reverbs for the mic.
