VDJ Freezes

Greetings Folks!
Did a search & didn't see anything...so here it goes!
VDJ freezes, but still plays when I switch hard drives.
THEN while playing a tune this past Saturday, it completely froze up, quit playing & I had to restart it.
My laptop is an i5-480M 2.93GHz 6GB 640GB HD.
Internet connection is disabled.

Any ideas???

I'm no expert on VDJ but my first guess by what you described would be a HD problem

Are your files stored an an external or internal Hard drive? Also, if external is the harddrive powered ( you plug it in ) , or is it just powered by the USB? - I ask because i had issues is the past using Virtual DJ with a non powered hard drive, also you can have a problem if you have a hard drive that goes to sleep, if VDJ goes to grab the track and the hard drive is asleep it will freeze Virtual DJ. The Solution is to get the fastest powered Hard Drive you can find. I hope this helps you out!

I totally agree. I was told it's better to have a HD that uses electricity. Yes you need enough plugs to run everything but it's much better that way. I've had it freeze due to my error and not VDJ.

Thanks guys. My external HD does have a power adapter & is plugged in BUT I bet it "goes to sleep". Sounds like I need to look into Rick's little program that keeps the HD spinning.
Now, what made the entire VDJ software freeze & need to be restarted??

Ricks program has been a part of every event for the last few years. If I'm using a powered hard drive for music. His wonderful program is keeping it alive. In the last few years if I have had any issues it's only when I forgot to start it. Its part of my process when setting up for an event.
