So I DJ mainly clubs right now and in the past I liked to mix in Rock during my sets but in recent years what is considered Rock I do not find that appealing and therefore have stopped using new music to do that and just sticking with the classics. they other night someone came up to me and said that country is the new rock. I would like to know if people really feel that way.

I am not a big country fan but in the early 90's I was the DJ at one of the larger country line dance clubs in the Philadelphia area but since then unless it is a crossover song I have to say I do not know alot about country music anymore. If that statement is true I may need to get back in to it.

I was a musician at the Grand Ole Opry for 14 years. I can't tell you how many times I've had to hear this discussion. Yes, today's "Country" is what I call Southern Rock or just Rock music. Just last week, I ran into the Opry's staff Steel Player and had a chat. I asked him how things were going and he said "Rick it's awful. I'm just getting a handful of spots now as all the acts they're bringing in are Rock acts and no steel guitar. If it weren't for those dates with Vince (Gill) I'd be hurting right now."
