Speakers For Small Ceremonies

We don't have things like mega-churches here and many if not most churches have been here for some time and were not designed around audio/video systems. So .. yea .. maybe it's everywhere but Texas, but space in a ceremony area is often pretty minimal.

Add to that that setup and teardown usually has to happen quickly, and a small self-contained system makes sense.
Thats when one charges enough to be able to afford extra help. ;)

I don't do weddings .. I don't think you do many .. I think we can leave that decision to those that do.

I do many weddings. I would rather have a small system for the ceremony that's quick and easy to tear down.

For me, the best way to do a ceremony is charge enough so you can afford extra help, but be smart enough so you don't need it.:)

My ceremony system gets used for cocktail rooms, small events, and fill speaker in odd shaped rooms.

"Blows away the K8's"... "tons of output"?

You must have been comparing a ZXa5 to that K8 you supposedly blew away. I really wanted the ZXa1's but when I compared them to the K8, I knew the EV was lacking in overall output and clarity (a direct A/B comparison). I ended up getting a pair of RCF 408A's and I'm very satisfied.

The most impressive thing we ever did with the ZXA1's is try them out on top of the RCF 21" subs when we demo'd them from RCF and they kept up. We couldn't believe it. We are more impressed with the performance out of such a small package than any speaker we've used. K8's don't impress me in the slightest. It all comes down to personal preference i suppose, or i was just lucky to buy a great set , who knows.

Why does one feel the need to buy little speakers for Ceremonies, especially if it is outdoors? Also buying speakers specifically for one function is limiting oneself. I would much rather use something that can easily be integrated into my main rig and thus serve three purposes Ceremony, Backup and additional/fill sound. For example one can duplicate their tops/mains and thus have two sets, in the event that they have to do a larger gig, they just use all four.

Wait, weren't you the guy who started this thread, and suggested we use those little speakers for ceremonies?
They could never be integrated into my main rig, used as backups, or for extra fill.
I have always used my backup speakers for ceremonies. I already have them in the vehicle, anyway.
I did buy a portable Samson speaker for ceremonies, but haven't had the chance to try it yet.

Yes I started the Thread because I know a lot of you like small and light. Remember, I said, it was not MY preference.
