I like the look.....but thought they'd include the same connections as the live X line.

What's different in the connections?

1.5 lbs difference between the active and passive - yikes.

On the passives only 250 watt handling and 96db sensitivity. I'll pass.

1000 watt peak - it's the same drivers for both - active / passive.

To me, peak means virtually nothing. Even the cheap Carvin PM153s that I use are rated at 400 watts continuous and 1600 watts peak. I'd think that a fair portion of my gigs are smacking a regular 250+ and would consequently burn these dudes out pretty fast.

Neat .. $399 for the 12, $499 for the 15 (powered versions) .. but not till April.

The spec sheet lists an 1/8" (3.5mm) input on these ZLX, so that would be an alternative to a pair of RCA for a quick connect of an iPod or something.

Just found some dealer pricing of $320 for the powered 12" and $394 for the powered 15". No word on availability, but if they sound good, it might make a nice backup set. I found out it uses the same HF driver as the ELX powered boxes with a different LF driver.

For comparison at the same dealer, the ELXs were $445 and $517, so $120 cheaper per box. Joker is correct that the ZLX run about 6db off in SPL (126 vs 132), but reality says we're not pushing that level at most locations, so it still may be great for small/ceremony gigs. I'd guess a bit better than similar priced Behringers/Altos/etc.

I believe this is the New Entry Level Model, below the Live X. They were supposed to name it the Play X. There will be yet another Model coming out the Middle of the year called the Tour X Pro, unless that too gets renamed.
