I've had 2 different prospects this week that are a good reminder of how important it is to actually answer the phone and to return emails promptly. First one was yesterday. She called, I answered. No biggie, right? Well according to her, it was a big deal. "I called several of your competitors and nobody answered the phone and didn't return my calls either. I was shocked when you picked up." We had a nice conversation and she filled out the online booking agreement this morning for a December date.
Prospect #2 was a F2F meeting I had last night. Nice couple, getting married in 4/2013. He does A/V installs in homes, restaurants, etc. She's a live audio engineer and works a lot in a strip of clubs where I used to play downtown (as a musician). We hit it off very well and it was great actually having a client who actively wanted to know about my gear. Towards the end of the meeting she repeated almost the same thing as prospect #1 that she'd emailed and called several DJs, all with no response.
Now I understand that we're all balls-to-wall right now and I'm about as burned out as anyone else but guys/gals, remember that your sales job doesn't take a break..........unless you want to be sitting at home in a few months.
