You are correct! I was also amazed at the Price. The "cheap" ride is over. People going to have to pay up.

And I am not a Behringer fan.... though I own a powered box and a non DJ mixer.... If somebody else made one, I might take a look.

I made my first Behringer purchase in 2001 and some more in 2003 and 2006 and they have not given me any problems. I think they realized that selling good cheap (Yes that's the only good way to describe it) stuff was making it reliable. There have been horror stories, but most manufacturers may have run into similar problems. Will I buy more of their stuff??? Probably but like I said they've never given me crap and I still love my big ass DX1000 mixer.

Component quality has been the issue I have had with Behringer stuff. I have had many more failures with the Behringer gear I have than any other brand. Inexpensive pots/faders that snap off (3), power supplies that go (2), some failure in electronics either due to a problem or travel issues (4). Many are intermittent, which are even tougher to find. I have had 5 Behringer products that have never had an issue (2 RX1602, 1 DX1000, 2 Sharks and my new B208d) and a bunch that did (VMX1000, RX1202, DEQ2496, 1 Shark, 1 Virtualizer, 1 Comp). ENough to say it is a 50/50 chance some issue will pop up. If you are very careful with it and don't subject it to road movement (2 of the devices that failed rode in a rack but were turned on just once) they are a decent value and sound fine for most purposes.

We have enough weddings booked for next year to justify a ceremony/cocktail system. Behringer is on the radar but I have been hesitant because of the horror stories from years past. My Berhinger mixer has been good to me so far so I may take the plunge and try one of their 12inch powered models for a tablet based rig concept I have.

The only Behringer equipment I've used has been the active speakers and the passive amp (EP1400 running into Peavey Black Widows). No issues with these items.

We currently have a pair of the Eurolive 12" powered speakers and have had zero problems with them since we purchased them in the spring of 2011. They're used for our ceremony rig and in high wind, humid, damp, direct sunlight, they've done just fine.

Behringer has some deep pockets and spend some of it this past year. Now that they own Midas, I expect to see the mixers to be more reliable. I have a friend that just got the new 32 channel digital mixer and has A/B it next to several other digital mixers and said everyone that was in the room could not believe that the Behringer mixer had the best over all sound.

I never had any problems with Behringer gear. I guess it's because I own none.:-/

I'm glad that those that do own it are having a positive experience with it these days. Heck when Hyundai came out back in the 80's no one gave them a second look. 20 something years later they are a true force in the car industry.

I purchased a Behringer mixer about 15 years ago that was DOA right out of the box. The 2nd replacement had noisey pots. Third unit only one output worked. Didnt want to deal with any more issues so I ponied up for the Pioneer. Although now retired for over 4 years, that mixer still works fine to this day. Maybe behringer has improved their product but my experience turned me off the brand.

My Behringer VMX 1000 Mixer is still in service. Just about ten years old. No problems and I like its multiple Inputs and other features.

I just unloaded a couple of their 12" powered speakers for $50 ea. I really didn't like their sound. They may work for some, but really didn't fit the bill for me.

I am not a fan of any powered speaker. I do have one which is a floor monitor for Karaoke or for myself/DJ.

I actually have a lot of Behringer gear. 3 mixers, several compressors, speakers, amps, other processors. I have had good luck with most of it. My VMX1000 started getting noisy, but that was after 3 years of extreme use, and 1 rain storm. I don't think any other brand of mixer would have held up any better. I have 4 of their VP2520 cabs that are going to hell. The drivers are holding up great, still sound great, but the cabs themselves are coming apart at the seems. Again 3 years of extreme use. I am sure that JBL or EV would have held up way better. But there are worse speakers out there...I know I have heard them. If you didn't push them as hard as I have they probably would have held up a lot better. I love the EP series amps.....push them and push them...they just keep pumping out the power. I do know for a fact that the thermal overload protection works. But when the amps cool....only takes a couple second they are right back at it. I currently have 4 of them and love em. For the price you can't beat them. And as far as the rumor mill saying they really don't put out the power they say they do. Ohm's law is still Ohm's law.....P=E^2xR... A $20 voltmeter will answer all your questions with a little math.
