I told you guys already to align yourselves with an Entertainment Agency. It is more than worth it, no hit or miss. Every call = $$$$$. Their DJ Fee to the Client is usually more than the DJ may get on their own, therefore after the Commission fee is taken out, the DJ ends up with more money. Earlier this week, my Agency called me, they had a request for a date from one of the Country Clubs that uses me. I am already booked at another Country Club for that date. They called back and changed the date just to get me. All the money being spent on WW and these other outfits can be saved.
If you don't have Entertainment Agencies in your area, go and visit the other Vendors, take them out to Breakfast and let them know that you are looking for Representatives who will get you Gigs for a Commission. There is nothing cheesy or illegal about that procedure. It is NOT a kickback. It is a professional Fee for a service (Sales/Marketing). You can talk to just about any vendor, Bridal Companies, Party Rentals, Limo Rentals, Florists, etc. You can even use the Postcards/Brochures Idea to promote those same vendors with your message. Trust me, after they get the first Check/Commission they will get you loads more Gigs! Remember, you have to properly sell the idea and offer compensation in the form of a commission not just "I'll pay you if....."
