Thoughts on Bose Speakers

Ok my 2 cents for whatever that is worth compared to the price of gas....

I ran nearly an entire season on just one L1/dual B1 setup in mono. The results were happy customers for sure... I don't think I can attribute that merely to the ownership and use of the Bose system. At least not entirely so. But, the system was lacking that stereo depth and SPL.... but, it did sound good to my ears.... listening was a pleasure for sure.

Then I was able to purchase another L1/dual B1 and could now configure in a stereo setting.... the sound quality was much better and fuller... I ran this way for another season and the sound was great to listen to. But... it lacked the SPL that you could feel. Again it was a successful season and no customer complaints on sound... lack of or too much of in any direction.

Still I felt that it was lacking feel.... sure there was nice bottom end that you could hear, but, it lacked the bottom end that you can also feel.

For this reason I sold my Bose system and went back to traditional sound... I'm not saying that Bose is not good, I'm just saying for my clients Bose wasn't enough.... (my opinion).

I have now run 2 full seasons on my EV Tour X system and I can not point to any complaints on sound from any client. So other than for the look of the Bose system, I wont be going back.

Yes I have my RR cart. But it's a beautiful thing to never have to lift anything more than 22 pounds off of my cart and into or out of my car. My back loves me again.

But, like Ed said. If I found something else that sounded better, was super easy to move around, held their value, and customers loved it and recognized that brand as quality, I'd have no problem switching. The reality is I haven't looked at anything else seriously since I got these. Been happy.

As far as negatives, the only one I've come across so far is the occasional drunken skank that wants to use the tower as her stripper pole.

I've found a loud and decisive "NO!", just like I do with my dog, works very well:)

Also, on the model 1's, the base could become a trip hazard if placed improperly on a corner of a traffic area. Proper placement fixes that, but sometimes when you start using them, it's not something you think about. Model 2 no issue at all with this.

I don't do weddings, so I want something with some thump. I think there is promise in the vertical array and honestly don't want to have 6 bass bins lined up or stacked . Maybe if they had a B3 with 3 of them buried inside, I'd be ok. Ideally, something like the K-array would be sweet, a L1 top on a standard sub pole with a separate amp section would be killer. I love the tall lean look, just want a deeper low end.

For what it's worth (I know you said you were going to do another thread but I will start it here lol).....we just brought a guy into our company. I have known him for going on close to 30 years now, and he has been doing sound production for close to 25 years (started interning for some of the top sound guys in my area when he was still in middle school). One of the things he is going to do for us is overhaul and redesign our system to be both compact, and functional. We are looking to branch out into larger events as well as keep going in the wedding market.

When I asked him the first thing we needed to do, his answer, without even thinking "get a QSC KW12 sub....and when you have money, get a second one". And that is exactly what we are going to be doing by the end of the year. We will be pairing them with the KW tops eventually.

This guy has forgotten more about sound reproduction than 99% of the people an the planet will ever know. Just ask ittiger.....he has seen him in action a bit :)

Yep, we all have different tastes, different needs, and different customers. It's not shocking that there are different preferences. I am glad there are other great options out there.

Some DJs have requested that they make a larger bass. Personally, I like the way it is.

What does that mean? Care to share the current formula (or is it sealed in a bank vault, like the Coca Cola recipe)? Do you know the coming formula?

for an extra $3000. Geez, most people won't spend the money on the system the OP is talking about, let alone another $3000. I sure hope you make 100K+ a year DJing Canute, because you sure do like your expensive stuff.

Papa, I like quality and great sound. People may say what they want about Bose, but when it comes to natural sound they have many others beat. There are customized sound systems that with proper processing that can achieve this result but the average DJ speaker system falls way short. $7K for a full system is nothing. That can be recouped in 2 months if one is doing the right Gigs. You don't see the wannabees running out and buying systems like that or L1s do you?

Im trying to recall other than a few worn out installs anyone even using a Bose 802 in the past 20 yrs.

You like to stir the pot don't you! For a Mod that sure is a great example you are setting! Why don't you concentrate on the 300 leads you are presently working? At least my Bose 802 is still being sold and is reality.

my point was that you must be the only one who found the Golden Chalice and Im working as I type here Canute. I didnt say it in a bad way.your so sensitive buddy. Also my point is that if it were the truth that the 802 system was better than the L1 stick system it would likely be the go to rig, Was no pot to stir I spoke my mind in regards to trying to recall anyone but you using theses cabinets for mobile DJing.

OK, please tell me, where in this thread did I say the 802 system is better than the L1? Go back to post #27 and try your best to comprehend what I wrote and the Link of the system to which I was referring. Even Papa comprehended what I meant. You disappoint me Jon, you try and make it appear that what you posted meant no harm when in reality it was a jab just to incite me.
 
There is more than just the new L1S. Anyone wanting complete details of all the new products being added to the L1 family line the minute the gag order is lifted, email me. Do not use private messaging as there'll be way too much info.

Please, watch out and avoid the rumor mill or pseudo experts. Parts of the new info and product is gonna be tricky if not fully understood.
