Add any that you think qualify. I was at a lighting show once and it seemed that most people were DJs, so I am counting that one.

EDIT..... I am thinking 6 for me.

Las Vegas 3x
AC twice
and a lighting show in FL. ( LOL, while I was on vacation )

Was planning on going to Atlantic City last week, but I got a new day job (IBM) and that preempted it.

Congrats on the new day gig Steve.

None, sorry, but every single one of them I have seen footage from (Mobile Beat and the Atlantic City one) is nothing but a bunch of snobs telling people they should charge more....no thanks

I said the same thing 5 years ago. My viewpoint totally changed when I attended my first convention. I had a blast and made friends with some good guys. You do have your mixed crowds. The ego bunch, the buffet bunch (fat dj's), the scratch bunch, the club dj and the my s h i t don't stink bunch. Still worth the time, I just stay away from some of the seminars because most of the time it's recycled info that I don't need.

SO, I'm still a fat DJ, but I do go for the seminars..... and I'm not in any of those other categories..... and I generally don't do buffets....

Mobile Beat Las Vegas: 10+ years
Minnesota Conventions: 15+ years
Dallas Convention: 1 year
ArmDJs: 1 year
ADJA: 2 years
Atlantic City: 5 years

There may be a couple I've forgotten about.

I would love to personally attend LDI, NAMM, Plasa, BPM, Wedding MBA, and a few others.

Troy Im going to get you up here to talk about DJ Event Planner for the CDJA show this yr how about that>?

I've been to 2(both in Vegas)! Never really enjoyed any of the seminars. I really had a blast just standing around talking shop with other DJs. I love watching people & to see the snooty "regulars" who walk around with their noses' in the air is so dang amusing to me.
What was even more amusing was the last time that I went, I felt so sorry for Coolio who had to perform in front of a sleuth of stiff-shirt "white" guys who were crowding the front of the stage and had the rhythm of a pile of bricks. Watching them was better than a comedy show.
Hanging with some of the crew that I know from this message board was worth every penny of the trip. I feel like I made a life long connection with Kirby & Coreen Ball. Sometimes you come across people that you just click with from the minute you meet them.
I really enjoy browsing around the exhibit hall(that sounds dirty). Not really anything major that I needed, but I picked up a few items(speaker covers, laptop stand, color strips). Lots of stuff that I wanted though... ;-)
Doubt that I will be back though. As I'm bout to enter my 50s this summer, I have been slowing down on my gigs by choice. My focus has been enjoying our time raising our teenage son & enjoying more time with my lovely wife. I turn down more gigs than I accept.
If you haven't been to a DJ convention I highly recommend that attend one. Especially if you want new to the game & want to learn how to grow your bizz. There are a lot of knowledgeable & talented people out there who take time to share it with you + it's the one time of the year that you can get some killer deals on DJ stuff. If you have some deep pockets, you an really save a ton of money!!!
