I have a question.. I have the denon x500 mixer and I notice that when I try to use the balance master. Left and right I can hear both speakers . I noticed it a couple of weeks ago doing this.. can I run it like this without an issue without an issue?

How are the connections on the back? What do you have hooked up to the mixer and in what manner? Details please! or take a picture and post.

Is the slide switch on the back set to mono?

Ok I have the denon hc4500 connected to channel 2 and 3 and just the rca cable to master to amp . And yes the switch is set to mono.. Is that the reason?

I'm guessing, since balance isn't needed with mono.

Switch being on Mono should not matter. Balance knob is simply a sliding/graduated selector. If you turn the Balance knob on to the left or right side and you hear two speakers on one side only and nothing on the other then you have the two speakers hooked up to the same side (Left or right) of two different channels. More details or a photo is needed.

If the balance knob is AFTER the stereo/mono switch then it's really just panning between the same signal on both channels. The manual doesn't say (and I have that mixer).

That is true but he was saying he was getting BOTH speakers when he went to one side (He did not say which side) that tells me he had tow signals coming from one side but on two channels. There could be many scenarios as to why this is happening. If I switch my mixer to mono I will still get left side out put when I pan to the left and right side output when I pan to the right. Something is connected incorrectly.

I've never been so disappointed with a mixer than the X500....I have a "bump" on input 4 - when you pot down there is a notable "bump" heard through the speakers. Not static, but an electrical "bump" Swapped out speakers, cables; changed locations, swapped out different sliders; even replicated it at Long and McQuade....even with no source connected....It started when I set up the system last spring (2011) for wedding season. It worked OK the first year (10 events). Brought it in for service in March 2011; got it back in September; didn't use it last year. Denon said it was dirty (sure) and that they had replaced electronics a re-soldered

Unpacked it two weeks ago.....dam thing is going the same thing......so they did f@ck all for 5 months. Top it off; now "zero" in the balance knob is actually not "zero" - I have to pan a little left to get true balance in stereo.. I've tried different sources, soundcards....

Lastly - Has anyone ever gotten the master VU meter to work? I can get the bottom pair to flicker; I can have individuals gains to 3 o'clock, master to 3.....nothing

What a piece of crap; my Numark reigns over this mixer

My masters don't work any more .. worked a year ago though. Haven't had any noise (pretty quiet), but it's time for a new one.

Buy a Rane or Behringer (Mine is about 10 years old) LOL

Had a Behringer (2 actually- DX1000 and VMX1000) ... the DX was a freakin tank, but way too big .. the VMX1000 just never sounded right, so I went to the Denon. Right now I'd like either the Pioneer DJM5000 or the Rane MP25. Both have multiple USB audio channels. The Pioneer is a tad more affordable. Lately I've been doing mostly karaoke with the A&H, so it hasn't been a priority since the Denon still works .. and who needs metering anyway ...

The best Denon mixer I have ever owned was the x800. It was built in Japan, great output and just felt solid. I sold it to purchase the x900. Big mistake. I sold the x900 2 months later. It sucked.

My DX1000 is installed in my studio and it's been alive for 10+ years, it has developed a small fader bleed but for studio work it's fine. After going Rane & A&H for my main rigs I'm never going back :D:D:D:D:D

my Denon X900 has worked flawless for 7 yrs now Its a backup at this point as I have scaled down to a controller system.

I had an X500 when I started back up some years ago. Never had a problem with it, however it just didin't sound like the Ranes or the A&H I'm using now.

like i said before all i have connected is the denon hc4500 connected to channel 2 and 3 and just the rca cable to master to amp.. and another dislike on this mixer is the cue on headphones is to low..and i have to have the master volume set around 9..
