Music In Stereo

PERFECT!
I was gonna mention "Black Water" as a great stereo song.
We used to turn the balance on the car stereo all the way to one side,
and then sing the missing vocal part.
(funny, "Doobs" were usually involved in more than one way)

But it's songs like this that drive me crazy and force me to play in mono...
in SOME of the local venues that are irregularly shaped.
(L shaped rooms, more than ONE room, etc)
Remember if you will, that not because a room is L shaped does that mean you have to put speakers to cover each rectangle. Concentrate on the dance floor and if the music is loud enough, it will reach the other corner as a combined sound anyway. Sometimes some guests find it appealing to sit away from where the music is concentrated. Ideally the two speakers should project along the longest area with the smaller rectangular area being on that back wall.

I definitely have to in the one venue I play.

I am the arrow. the black rectangle is my table. the red is the dance floor.
If I dont place a speaker to cover the side room (lower left section)
no one at those tables will hear ANYTHING.
But yes, in less drastic cases, you are correct.

Please don't let this one be a argument ok! If I were you and I played there all the time I would have them change the configuration beforehand. If they did not want to do so I would request to setup on the opposite side of the same dance floor and spread the speakers out a bit. Again, the focus is on the dance floor. There are a few more options but it will entail moving the dance floor. However if one is afraid to ask for what they want, in the best interests of all the guests then one is left with the hand dealt to them.

Or you can throw a fill speaker off to your left around the corner to cover that area in mono for background music and announcements.

No worries, Canute.
I'm not looking for a fight.
We were talking about situations where you needed to run in mono.
I was just telling you about a particular room I play at.
I completely agree that there are other solutions.

Many of the old classic tracks are available in "good" stereo & do sound much better .But they are hard to source. One good example is "Respect" by Aretha Franklin , i have the stereo version which leaves the lifeless mono version dead in its tracks.
