Okay, the client was right and I was wrong (surprise). Did a job at the Airport Marriott in this dome-looking ballroom they've built. The interior is completely white, so the purple uplighting worked out great. When it came time to setup the gobo, I couldn't find the swivel head mount that I normally use (it was wrapped up in some drapery cloth) so I improvised by using the house projector. Sheer luck on my part but dang if it didn't turn out good:

Had a great planner (for a change) and she kept things running smooth, making my job easy. Roughly 175 in attendance and I used my standard Peavey IPR3000 amp pushing a pair of Carvin neo12 tops and pair of Peavey 1X18 subs (bi-amped). The rig covered this room just fine though I did tap the clip lights a few times. 20 Chauvet slimpar56s and a Source Four Jr. Zoom to spotlight the cake. Dance lights was 1 T-bar with a Colorstrip, Triphase LED, Vue6, 2 Chauvet Scan LED250s and 2 Scan LED150s run by Chauvet wireless DMX and myDMX software. Bride & Groom (and MOB) were thrilled.

I'd done another event early in the day (10:30a) so by the end of this one, I just was physically at the end of my rope. It wasn't until the next day that I actually developed chills and a fever so I'm assuming I must've worked sick all day Saturday. I ended up taking Monday off to recover.

The lighting effect looks cool on the curved walls. Nice Job !

Very nice color. I didn't see the cake table...you have a pic of it? Twenty slim-par 56's? How do you price your lighting packages? By the number or based on what YOU feel will take to do the room? I'm having mixed emotions about pricing the lights. Like the gobo, too. How far from the machine to the wall that it was projected to? What projector used?

The projector was mounted to the ceiling, no idea what it is but I'm guessing 5000 lumens. It was probably 25 feet back. As for the lighting, I discourage per-can pricing and offer two packages;

DJ + 10 cans = $950
DJ + LivePics/Texting + Dance Lights + 20 cans + gobo + bliss = $1350

I call the 10-can setup a "baby lighting rig" and tell clients it's good up to 100 guests. 20 seems to be the magic number that works in most venues although there are a handful of rooms here that need 30. Sometimes I can squeeze an extra 10 ($350) out of them, sometimes I can't. I'll probably bump my big pkg to the 1500-1800 range next year.

I'm really kinda hurt (sniff, sniff) that you guys didn't comment on the gobo. ;) I loved the way that thing looked against the wall behind the B&G. Wish there was a good way to pull that off all the time, without having to mount a projector to the ceiling.
It looks great on the wall .. a little "flowery" in script for my taste, but excellent anyway.

Actually, that refers to the entire package; gobo, uplighting, and effects. Since I can't hear sound through a picture I can only assume it was awesome sound as well.

Sound is very good from that rig but I gotta tell you, I've got an itch for a pair of CVs. I'm finding myself in larger rooms more often so it would be nice to have something with a bit more bottom end throw to it.
