Would I need an external crossover with this sub if it says it has a "Built in Passive Crossover"? I would have it on a separate bridged amp from my mains. I am looking for a good priced sub that will add some kick to an upcoming gig I have. I've been using a pair of 15" speakers and they have done fantastic even at a 100 person party in a large gymnasium sized room as far as loudness and bass goes (actually got complaints to turn it down because of too much "boom"). But the gig I have coming up will have about 150 people outside at a pool party. Would a sub help? Or should I just wing it with my 2 15" speakers. It is for a friend, so its not like I will lose a client. I have DJ'd for him about 6 times already. The only problem I have is space, it all has to fit into my SUV.
Please note: I am a hobby DJ, so I don't have the biggest, baddest, high quality equipment. The stuff I use it mid-range "get the job done" quality since its just a family and friend business. But it works, and people keep coming back to me, so I must be doing something right. I don't have large budgets because I don't DJ constantly. In fact, even 1 or 2 "popular DJ's" around here have given up and moved on because of no business. Where I live, people are cheap!
