I think you will find that this is not unique. The advertised pricing on the sm58 is very tightly controlled and many vendors tack on cheap cables & stands for the $10 fee as a regular business practice. I prefer to buy mics at the best price by visiting or calling a vendor rather than falling for this marketing scheme. I try to purchase reasonably priced cables & stands which last many years rather than overly cheap cables & stands which create problems at the most inopportune times.
That is a reputable Dealer and Pro Audio Source. I buy from them all the time. I think it is a heck of a deal. Shipping, Tech Support and Warranty is free. Ask for Bart Good and tell him Canute sent ya. He will answer any questions you have.
Great to hear Canute...I bought a demo NS6 from them and agree that their support is great. I play bass as well and they are my go to guys for most of my bass gear. Scott does have a point though. I was a Bose certified/approved reseller back in my Home AV days and we had to stick to their price structure. We did sell other lower cost items as a marketing approach to sell Bose units...the process does work.
Either way Ive been looking to get an SM58 as a backup to my Line6 XD-V30 wireless system which has served me well. I also have the mic boom that they are "giving away" and its not so bad. Cant speak for the cable.
If you can use a mic stand, it's a pretty good deal. I'm sure the cable is of limited life (though not worthless most likely). The SM58 is worth $90-99 all day, every day. If you can use the extras, it's a good deal
