Any venue we go to, there is at least one other person that knows how to run our system. If Im not at the venue, it only takes a phone call for me to get where ever we are. And Im no more than a couple hours away. My BIL, or anyone one that we know can run the system until I can get there.

That is where an Auto List/Playlist may come in handy. As others have shared in a previous thread, it is nice to go to a Gig with a pre-planned Playlist even though the sequence of the songs may not be followed. If you have one hour to go, I am sure the Client would understand and about 15 - 20 Songs in a non stop automix playlist will be able to finish the gig. Of course, no requests can be taken. Push Play and walk away! ;)

I have several saved Playlists on Traktor and on my Pioneer MEP 7000. I can also go back in Traktor's History and pull up an entire Gig's "playlist" from any given past Date/Event.

So you just push play, walk away, and leave your equipment unattended...? Not knowing how long you'll be gone...

Now there's a plan...

So, you would leave your gear there and take off for nobody knows how long?

You barely beat me to it Tommy -- I had to get the rolling eyes smiley, took too long... xf:D

Really, you really think any and all clients would understand. You must have some very gracious people in Texas. There are great people here in Charleston, but I must say I do not think all clients would understand.

At first I will discuss it with the Client. If they agree, I will find someone to monitor the Sound, just the Volume Knob and Microphone on and off, simple. Arrange to pick up later or call someone to go over and watch it.

Its just equipment folks. It is only one Gig, a bad memory of my not being there for my loved one will haunt me forever.

I may not give them the choice to understand! I can write them a cheque right there and then as a full refund.

Several things can stop a Gig. A big fight, loss of electrical power, a safety threat, DJ passes out or falls sick. As long as one provides an alternative to keep the music going, I would think a Court will understand if a suit is brought upon the DJ.

when my dad was getting bad i was doing a school show, my sister called me and said my dad fell and was in the hospital, i told her just as soon as the show was over i would be there, we had about 45 minutes left to do and i was 35 - 40 miles away
