Okay, honestly and without sarcasm Steve, I ask ... What is the realistic and fair alternative?

The real world is full of different personalities. Rules and guidelines in society are put in place to govern behavior where possible and mediate relations. This forum (and others like it) have the same structure. However, this doesn't mean that our varying freedoms of opinion and expression should be confined to one absolute variance. Until a line is crossed, we all have to "take it". We all ignore people, posts and topics here everyday. Sometimes, we may feel like chiming in. It can go both ways. You can think of someone as an asset or an ass. That's your right as it is theirs.

You could type the kindest words with the best intentions and someone could still perceive you as an ass. I understand your plight Steve, but you want to the "Our" in ODJT to mean "yours". If that happened, your philosophy would be "Yep, we're perfect little angels... Take it or get the fudge out."

I'm told that you are a wonderful guy in person. I'm sure you've heard the same of me. Yet, it would seem that we don't particularly care for one another. That's reality. No one is going to be loved by all.

Personally, I don't want anyone stifled. If I do something anyone doesn't like, they can express it to me. Lord knows I will. ;)

The realistic and fair alternative; if you don't like someone or don't like the manner in which they post, or can't contribute in a positive, constructive way...move on...Seems simple to me; just a tinge of consideration is all that's needed. Slamming someone for asking a simple question isn't consideration.

I'll continue on in mu search for that Utopian society.

Slamming is sometimes both positive and constructive. If someone doesn't take a tinge of consideration when asking a question (like our friend in the missing thread) and then gets slammed by an otherwise helpful member, they should be learning from it. And again, for the fifth time, you seem to be fighting fire with fire by the same aggressive retorts to those you find offensive. Certain things get under certain people's skins and people will get slammed. Some rightfully and some wrongfully, but it's going to happen in and out of forums all over the world.

Utopia doesn't exist, but you can create your own version of it by simply starting your own forum. It's sometimes referred to as a cult.

Hank - He asked a simple question - either help or don't help and move on; just because they do it elsewhere doesn't justify your reply. If you feel you were the bigger person here, I'm not going to change your mind....

Let's consider this done....

I would concede Steve if in fact he did ask a simple question. There may have been a simple answer, but it was impossible to derive from the vague way it was asked. That particular user pretty much exclusively comes here for answers to vague questions and rarely thanks people or updates his situation. It's that history and disrespect that prompted what you consider to be my hostile reply. Had you "simply looked the other way", he and I would have settled it as big boys all by ourselves.

This goes for all of my interactions that are not with you. If you don't want a debate, don't confront me.

.

Some people cannot see issues we discuss as having a "gray area"...
They only see things as black or white.
(more like: MY way....or YOU'RE WRONG)

So I get the feeling that some questions are never asked in order to get a simple solution...
but rather to GET the kind of negative reply it is bound to get.
(because the decision has already been made as to what the right answer IS)

I always wondered why it was o Kay on this board or the wedding Wire board to say something to someone in a foreign language and it be accepted but if you say it in English you would get banned or on restricted posting status. Why is that?
