Bluetooth Mouse Recommendation

Hi Folks,

I have my Mac Mini hooked up to my TV. It's to far away to use a regular wireless (RF) mouse and my Bluetooth Apple mouse has been thrown against the desk one to many times. Any recommendations for a decent Bluetooth mouse? I don't need all the bells and whistles just 2 buttons and a scroll wheel.

You might want to consider one of those wireless trackballs from Logitech. They work fantastic, the battery life is far better than the Apple stuff (I'm not sure whether I've even changed the battery in over a year). And it has an incredibly small dongle -- you can barely see this thing. Works with Windows and Mac, has a scroll wheel as well.

One still has to use a USB port to plug in the receiver/transmitter. With Bluetooth it is all internal and you don't have to plug in anything!

How good is the range? I need a good 15-20' and most RF setups lose accuracy at ~10'.

Only if the computer has bluetooth built in, if not the bluetooth receiver will still take up a usb port.

Range is great.

I use it at about 15-20 feet -- works fine. My eyesight is much worse than the range it has :)


It's a nice setup Danno, but you need to get the learning curve in. It was fairly easy IMHO, because it has the wheel. The ball takes a little getting used to, but it came naturally after a couple days of use. You just gotta get used to using your thumb, instead of your whole arm.

You'll probably hate it first, like I did. But then your brain and thumb will start to work together. Once that happens, you won't want a regular mouse any more...

I actually learned computers on a trackball many moon ago -- Anyone know about CCC work stations? I don't think I'll have much of an issue getting used to one again.
 
Dan I turned Rick and Jon unto those trackballs. I use one for gigging and at home, great range and best of all it's cheap on batteries. I have replaced the batteries once in 2 years.
