Based on what I use it to do, does it really matter? The system works and does not sound like the average DJ system for its size. What do you think it will be called if I stacked 4-6 one of top each other and fly them? Just like the JBL Vertecs, they are Line Arrays but work best in multiples.

If you stacked 4 it would be a 4 high articulated array. If you look at the back of a Vertec, a VRX or even a K-array, they have switch settings which adjust the output based on what position the cabinet is in the array. Because of the wide dispersion on the 802, if you did stack them, you will probably have serious comb filtering issues .. same reason you can't array speakers like the QSC K-10 or K-8.

we have access and use the Vertecs on occasion and therefore we do know the difference. You can stack anything in a line but it doesnt mean ya should.

Jon, this is where you are wrong? The 802s that I own were designed to also be stacked and flown if necessary. Why are you nit picking?

not nit picking clarifying the difference as there is. Sure you can stack them but they are Pan Array speakers and werent intended to compete with true line array speakers. Its okay if you say they are line array then go ahead. Doesnt mean I have to agree with you and I believe I and Steve have given clear points showing the true difference. What does necessary mean?

LOL lets be clear about this. Before Steve posted what he did you had no idea about the working of these arrays. Again this is just a technicality, whether it is a Line Array, Panarray or Articulated Array they will all do for me what I am seeking, which is, wide dispersion and non conventional DJ setup. I can't even find the original manual online anymore. The one is NOT the one I have. http://www.walkersound.co.uk/PDF/Bose_802_MkII.pdf

And now your telling me what I know? The conversation wasnt about what your pan Arrays do for you but you were calling them line array which is simply not true.Lipstick and the pig is on auto repeat here. I wont claim the knowledge Steve has but I do know line and pan mean two different things as does horizontal and vertical. Line has a vertical angle pan has a horizontal both different than a standard speaker. Im glad you know my knowledge level.

Jon, oh Jon! Based on YOUR principle of Horizontal and Vertical , what would you called this speaker if I only used one? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/754707-REG/QSC_KLA12_BK_KLA12_12_2_Way_Line.html

With 5, it's a constant curvature line array. One cabinet is not an array, it's just a K-array cab and isn't worth the $$ over a K12 unless you already have 10 of them .. 2 isn't either, not sure what you'd call it

Your right Canute Im wrong I havent a clue. Forgive me oh mighty one. Ignore what Steve said he hasnt a clue either. That dummy at our DJ conference who does big atar powered shows was wrong too cause even he said the K Arrays are not proper even with two of them together on each side.

actually those KLA Array arent proper Line array either. I had the pleasure of sitting in on a session with these even people with yrs of experience with true line array concert setups will verify my point. I will post pictures of this setup if you would like. .
Thanks for the Clarification! Now back to the regular Schedule program. BTW Drop QSC a note and tell them to change their wording!

Hey! A Footnote here... I kinda like the name Articulated Arrays for my Speakers...they sound more sophisticated.....yaaayyyy!

This is Texas Size LARGE!

Aren't those big 802s on top of a bunch of your scoops?xf:D

LOL

Yes...especially since they don't contain the very rare 16 ohm 1979 JBL super Scoop drivers!!!:triwink:
