I'm in need of a really good laptop stand!

I just got the new facade from Marathon and it's nothing like i expected. It's shorter then i expected it to be and the table top inside isn't big enough to fit the case i have the Denon controller in. So i have to take it out of the case and put it on the table top that way. The case had a built in laptop stand. Now since i can't use that with this fscsde i need a really good lasptop stand. The only real plus side with this facade is i figured i can put the laptop stand next to the controller and put the Pioneer EFX 500 under the laptop stand. The other issue with this facade there is no hole anywhere built into the facade to put any wires through.

So now with that being said i was thinking of making a hole big enough in the facade to slip the wires through. As for the l;aptop stand what would you choose?

This is what I use. It has many configurations and I normally use it on my Rack with the clamps.

Ask Ben at NLFX and if he does not carry it then check with Sweetwater and ask for Bart Good, tell him Canute referred you.

Not a dumb question but i just bought this one and never had a chance to use it other then in the basement when i got it yesterday. The thing would be me selling this one to get another one and which one so i don't make the same mistake? I'll look online and do better research.
 
Ok now please help me out. Where can i get one that isn't carpeted and should be big enough for me to use? I live in East Orange, NJ and would like a place where i can go and see it for myself.

I'm really not that crazy about this one i got because it isn't all that sturdy to me and i worry about the controller falling or someone bumping into it and causing something to fall down. Either the controller, laptop, harddrive or Pioneer EFX 500.
 
I carry a 6 foot table in my van, unless I know for sure the venue has a table for me. i have a DJ Skirts table topper, it's a facade that will fit tables from 4 to 8 feet long. I can set it up so the white side faces out. or the black side. Add a table skirt and now you have all the real estate you could want. DJ skirts is back up and running however they take orders and then manufacture to ship now. The topper has a "mouse hole" in either side for cables, and I cut slits and sew the edges and now only a minimum amount of cabling shows. I would like to get a folding facade that I can backlight at some point in time, but now the setup I have works great and looks great too. I can also stash any number of things out of sight under the table. I'm not ashamed to set it up at any venue. Here's a pic from back in 2009. That's me hiding behind it.

Here's another pic from a wedding last year showing the business end. Plenty of room on this side for water, camera(s) breath mints, smokes and whatever else ya need. The monitor is on a DJRack monitor arm. This folds down the top in a Gator case. Unfortunately you cannot get 'em any more to the best of my knowledge. I put a towel down on the mixer, fold down the monitor and close up the case, just that easy. Now instead of a wiggly laptop stand I have a view of my software right in front of me. Plus you can hide any number of things under the table out of the way. At small parties if I'm using only one sub I stuff it under the table. Everybody asks me where the good bass is coming from! The rack under the laptop is all processing, Sabine feedback elimination, Driverack for the powered stuff , Rane EQ and dbx crossover and compressor for the passives if that's what I'm running.

When you mentioned that this was shorter than you expected, that was the tipoff: This is probably the type of facade designed for turntable coffins. The coffin sits right on top; that shelf helps to keep everything braced together, but isn't really designed to support much more than a few records and extra cables.

Personally, I'd never trust a facade to hold my gear up. It's strictly for show.

Get a regular folding table to hold your Denon case, then talk to your friend Steve Cie about a FaCIEd.
 
I'll look for another facade to user and keep the table with me instead of what i was going to do. Now i got to sell this one and get another one. Usdj that looks great. I think i'll just look for a facade that will sit up on the floor and be done with it so i don't have to worry about having a skirt. Now where can i find a store that has one in New Jersey that is not made of carpet?
 
I have never been a fan of a table and topper. Too much work and load! Two items to carry, then you have to cover the topper and skirt the table. A facade should be a screen to block the view of wires coming from the equipment/racks. As Mr. Sharp pointed out, you should not use it to put your gear on as you do a table.
A six foot table takes up a lot of space 72". I have two racks and a console.My Process Rack (Which includes two amps) and Console always go with me. The amp rack goes whenever I am using the three way configuration. The console either goes on top of a t stand or on top of the rolling amp rack.

The total width of my setup is always 42". My Facade which I got from Ben is 60" so it gives me a little extra space in the booth. I have never had to clean my Facade which is carpeted because I keep it in the case in which it came. I put it in upside down and when I get ready to set it up I invert it and just pull the case off upwards and unfold it.

I hear ya Canute.....remember though I have my Gail to help set up. it's really not that bad, and if I'm shooting pics, my camera bag/lenses are out of sight, out of mind on the table as well, makes it easy to manage flash batteries, lens swaps etc.

As I said, I would like to get a facade as well, then it'll be just a throw-down for me, however ya still got to carry the facade as well.

Facade is one piece, take out of box, open and yer ready to go! Table topper and table are two pieces, takes up more space, plus spent time to cover and skirt. But as long as it looks good and serves one's purpose is all that matters.

This one I got is crappy. It's very cheaply made and just won't cut it. I got to get another one and just use a table and be done with it. I desperately want one that you put on the floor and goes around table like the one I had. I just don't want the one with a carpet and not just because it can attract dirt. But because the carpet can get torn too. I hope to find one I can afford this weekend.

I bought my facade from Ben around 2009- beginning 2010. It is still in excellent shape. If you take care of your gear it will last you forever. It was made by Grundorf
 
It takes a whopping 2 minutes to set up my table, skirt and topper. Go and get a table and skirt and call it a day! Your case for the denon is nice enough to not even use a facade so I wouldn't worry about it for now. For $39.96 you can go to walmart and buy a FOLDING 6ft banquet table that is light weight and amazon has table skirts for $20 bucks.

I throw my table and topper behind the driver/passenger seat in my suv and it fits with room to spare. I would think a large facade would take up about the same space.

I would say it takes about the same amount of time it takes for me to spread my speakers lol

Like I said before, to each his own. The facade has many benefits for me. People don't come over my equipment with drinks in their hand. They don't ask me to hold their drink for them as there is no place for me to put it but on the floor. If there is a fight, I have a barrier between the Scallywags and my gear! LOL
 
Hey ahoustondj I have a great idea. How's about stop doing gigs where scallywags are going to be looking to fight. LOL!

Nahhhhh! While they are fighting I usually line up a few songs such as "Another One Bites The Dust" or "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"
 
I picked up one of these (minus the monitor and bracket that holds it)
clamps on to any table
and can be positioned anywhere you like
