This happened to me a while back but I thought I would share it with you guys. I was doing a 70Th birthday party and for the first 3 hours (I was only contracted for 4 hours) it was cocktail and dinner music followed by an hour of the grand kids presenting the guest of honor with presents. Just as I was getting ready to start the dancing a man comes up to me and asks if I could make and announcement for him so I say sure and he said for me to ask if there was a doctor in the house. I said sure what is the problem and he tells me a woman came out of the bathroom yelling a woman in there was down and needed CPR. I know that if I make that announcement it would kill the party (pardon the pun) and cause mass chaos so I told him I am an Firefighter/EMT and know CPR and send him to my truck in the parking lot to get my med bag. I also knew of a doctor that was at the party so I told him to get my bag and meet me and the doctor in the women's room. When the doctor and I got to the women's room he opened the door and hit the lady laying on the other side with the door and thankfully she yelled owwwwww. Come to find out she has a history of passing out and had not eaten that day. I advertise as a FULL SERVICE DJ but possibly having to CPR was not what I had in mind but we DJ's will do whatever it takes to make a party.

Dude, I gotta draw the line here...

You have someone assume your post, and move in if you have the skills. The party is not important, when someone's life is on the line.

Take care of your fellow man/woman (bag or no BS bag), then go back to work ;)

I was more than ready to do what needed to be done. I did not want to make the announcement over my system to avoid the hysteria that would follow so I had the guy get my bag and I grabbed the doctor and went to take care of business but thankfully our services were not needed. In my 25 years as a firefighter and having worked 9 years for a Commercial Ambulance Service I have done CPR over 50 times. 2 times after that party I have had my med bag out most recently for a guy who had a few too many and him and another guest smashed their heads together trying to catch the garter at a wedding. My wife who helps me at weddings some times is also a R.N and I bandaged his cut ( right above the eye brow like a boxer would get) and told him he needed stitches but he decided to have another beer and suck it up and was dancing the next dance
