What DJ software are you using?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!

I use a plastic cup for my cocktails, and a foam cup for my beer ;)


I also use a phillips screwdriver for phillips head screws, and a straight screwdriver, for straight head screws. Do you use a CD player to to play records, or an iPod to play CDs?

Probably not. Hence the need for different tools in the toolbox, some of which are designed to do certain tasks well :)

I use a CD player to play my records. Problem is getting them back out! They're awful static-y playing on the CD player too.

Don't you know how to add a song to Traktor on the Fly or run two Playlists/Active Lists at the same time? Seems like you need some tuition on Traktor. Just saying!

Not sure why I do it this way. When I was still using CDs, I needed software that could search quickly for requests, and I found Mixmeister and liked it. Just my comfort zone. Never dropped it even after I got Traktor.
Also, Traktor Duo only has 2 decks. Mixmeister is my 3rd Deck I guess.

Well even my old two deck Traktor had the ability to do everything you are wanting it to do including searches, so I don't understand why the need for two software doing basically the same thing. But to each his own I guess. BTW there is a new version called Traktor Pro 2, and if you have a registered version of of Traktor Duo you can easily upgrade for a lesser fee. Traktor Pro has 4 Decks Plus a Preview Deck.
 
OTSAV DJ here. Great stable program, but costs in excess of $300. New software coming out from OTS, too, called Esperance. Have not read much about it other than it has been successively delayed due to "tweaking." OTS doesn't release unless it's thoroughly tested. Each computer requires a License, but can be transferred from one to another...fee involved, I do believe.
It's great for those DJ who like to fade in and out "automatically" from song to song. Also, can create playlists in advance.

Does Rocket have the auto fade-in feature? How about auto beatmatching with Rocket? OTSAV DJ does have a feature for auto-beatmixing. However, it does require importing your cd tracks into the OTS format (proprietary). It can be done "batch" or individually. For my purposes, all music files are in MP3 format and stored on external HD. If they were in OTS format on external HD, I could only use the external with a computer that has OTS installed. Sucks in some ways, but I've never had the software crash.
So, if you have a backup laptop with you at events...it will have to be separately licensed via OTS. I do believe that OTS has a 1-3 license package at a reduced rate vs buying singularly.
 
Hi, I have V.dj pro 7, and it works really really well, you can custom build PL's and even save them as segments as We run a radio show on 90.7 KViT "the gold mine" on friday nights at 12-3 am when I create a PL, I also save the PL and that way I can also reload the same PL for the next weeks show(s) and then ramdamley mix it up using the same PL but mixing up the songs in different orders. also you can use the auto start/play/fader if you like, but I do most of the fading manualy. an easyer way of matching BPM is to chose songs close to the Bpm your wanting to play, our radio show is split up into 6 segments of 1/2 hour each, the first Seg is House/Pop house, the second Seg is Tech house then third and 4th is Drum n Bass and 5th and 6th Segments are Dubstep to mellow out the hype, my segments normally start out at around House-128 Bpm to 135'ish, then its gets faster for DnB around 140 to 148's Bpm, then Dubstep is around 90 to 115 Bpm (all depending on Genera of type), I also normally leave the key lock on in order not to slow the song down or speed it up, With the key lock locked in the 12% range and just use pitch bend to get it to Sync or hit the Sync button to match the Bpm of the song thats mixing in. I have two consoles The Numark Mixdeck and also have a Herclues Mk 4 (USB).
Some people like to manual match the bpm where others like to use the Sync button to match the BPM,
you will also hear a lot of pros and cons about both types of DJ Equipment but I.M.H.O.

its kinda like driving a car, if you prefer an Automattic transmission or a Shift Stick transmission but in eather case, whatever works for you is what I say ...

RockIt does have a very nice auto fade in feature that I use for dinner and cocktails - much more flexible than the auto mix feature in old Red 5.2.

Auto beat mixing? RockIt does not have that feature. And I don't miss it. I'd rather do that by ear.
