Best multi-purpose software audio,video & karaoke?

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
there are trial versions of Provj 5 at club dj pro, and otsav..which is due a new release sometime soon..

would recommend club vj pro ..a bit slicker and easier on the eye than virtual.
 
I have been using Club VJ Pro for 3 years now. The latest version is pretty stable, on very rare occasions it does not play well with other installed software, so if you install something new... make sure you test prior to the performance. I think it is great software, but support just plain sucks. Here is there response to a request I sent to them this past April:

Our development team had taken some time-off (as we needed to evaluate our own software & development methods). We are back in development mode.

Part of the evaluation was to determine if we could overcome some of our short comings (particularly Beatmatching < which still isn't where it needs to be, MIDI controller inputs, improved Karaoke playback and supported formats… to name a few). We are please to say that we have hired a brilliant audio software engineer to help us overcome these shortcomings.

No time-table for new release (I’m guessing at minimum 4 months). We have a large “to-do” list.

If you have any quaffs with the existing software and/or a list of things you would like to see improved, please send your suggestions to me… we’ll try our best to accommodate your needs. We appreciate your input.

Rockit likely works better overall than this. Now when Rick settles in to such a difficult place as Florida to get used to the new Rockit might cover off all of it. Hey Puma your a Prison Guard gather up a bunch of your pals and go provide security so Rick can get back to work and finish his offerings for you. Sounds like a fair trade.
 
In all honesty, I would use hardware for video -- it's much more robust and stable.

There's a reason I don't do video mixing in my software, and that's because the OS is designed to do many things at one time. I've looked at all the other software and how they implement it, and none would be acceptable to me.


I'm all for a smaller/lighter setup -- but you have to have some standards for quality... ;)

I've spent a whole bunch on video DVD's and I'm having a blast with them in VDJ.
 
Whisper, you do know that VDJ has over 100 skins, right? So the whole "easier on the eye" thing is relative. And I am guessing that "slicker" is some technical term that I am not familiar with.
Ron, the link that comes up when I search for "epic DJ software" is... epicdj software. I am not sure what was sposed to come up.

Anyway, I have never used anything besides Serato Scratch Live Video and Virtual DJ for video. VDJ beats the crap out of Serato in just about every example I can think of IMO, and video is no different. I am just having a hard time thinking of something else I would *need* when I mixed video that VDJ doesn't offer. Or that could be done *better* even. It does exactly what I expect it to do. At the end of the day that's really all I care about.

Are the prices the same? Has anyone used it for mixing? I try to use every DJ software I can, just so I at least have an opinion when someone is talking about one. To date I have used Torq, Itch, Scratch Live, Final Scratch, Traktor Pro 2, and Virtual DJ. I tried using RPM and Rockit, but couldn't get either one to work with my controller :(

Prices are different (Epic being lower).

Pretty common in the software market, to rebrand under different names. Somebody may have heard bad things about a product with a given name, but they'll buy it under a different name... ;)

I have it, and have played around with it a bit -- basically a VDJ clone IMHO. Greg did a nice job of putting it together, although I'm not sure if he's still involved, or maybe sold the source to somebody else... :dontknow:

This is true. Adding things like video and karaoke will not simply increase bookings.

1)You need to learn how to sell better...and how to sell value as it was mentioned before.

2)You need to learn how to sell YOU...or whoever your sending to the event. If you are selling "karaoke" or "videos", they have already been approached by someone selling it less, so trying to sell that at a premium price isn't going to happen. But if you can show that YOU are better, it's hard for them to price that somewhere else.

Precisely! If one is going to take the time and effort to sell themselves as better than the other guy they must be prepared to ask for more. Too many times DJs are afraid of loosing the bid for the gig so they sell themselves short just to get a piece of the pie. Why not get the whole pie!!
 
all software is tools to an end..if they dont' work dump and get something else.
otsav has a bad write up..but have had a succesfull year..terminating in edinburghs hogmanay party through 4 huge screens..absolutley brilliant..as although not had problems with software..was worried with so much of a crowd...nerves etc..world stage and all that.
did everything it needed to do..without a single glitch...brilliant result.

I looked in to Video and Karaoke a few years back. At the time VDJ was the best option for me but like Whisper said it's all tools pick the one that works best for you
 
Starting 2011 I switched to full time video. I play nothing but videos when DJing in bars and have everything hard wired at the bars.

I use Virtual DJ to play videos and Karma to host karaoke. It's very simple. You can easily turn off the video source on virtual DJ and the video from karma for karaoke will show up.

I recommend 3 sound cards for best results.
