I have recently dabbled in FLAC files per my good friend Trini Dave aka DRZ inc and with big HD space and players now having compatibility with FLAC it is like a direct duplicate of your source copy. I have lots of dinner music and cocktail stuff which will never see a high volume so thos will not be converted anytime soon but the more demanding tracks will slowly follow suit and become FLAC files.
 
I've been fooling around with FLAC files as well and I'm going to test one of the VDJ tools for writing the proper tags on the files and if that works out bye bye mp3's in the future once any kink is fixed as I only have to convert the WAV's to FLAC and voila!!!
