Asked to use wireless at a gig

Once is more than enough. May I ask what the issue was? If you were not online, would the problem still have happened?

What does the speed of the CPU / FSB and that amount of RAM have to do with it? Is this a video system?

Yes, you may. The HD was developing bad sectors b/c of a cooling fan attached to it. It started 2/6 last year, but did not notice until July. Apparently the vibration from the fans caused drive issues. I replaced the drive and started happening again. Removed the fan and problem was gone.

To date, NEVER had a system burp due to any wifi/download/etc activity. In fact, the way I assign sound devices even keeps potential embarrassing moments from occurring.

I'm with Scott on this one. I can't remember for sure, but I bet I have purchased (did everyone see that word?!?!?) songs at events and used them after cue/review at the event for the last few years. Who cares if I buy it that day or two weeks in advance?

I did see the word. Props to you.

:)

Yes, but that can be taken two ways. Especially if she doesn't understand the definition of the terms (as with most people).
To the general public, download and stream are the same thing. Or at least different things, but they don't know what makes them different. Kinda like DJs that don't know the difference between RIAA and ASCAP / BMI.

I haven't, nor do I plan to stream/download any songs, connect a cell phone or I pod to my system.

I've been asked to hook up I pods, cell phones....just tell them I'm not set up to do it.

Any hotel I've been at, you need a password to access their internet....Just never sdaw a need to do it....not a big thing I guess in my area. Hot spots aren't prevalent here...
I won't hook up other people's equipment either. But I'll download from iTunes without hesitation.

Most of the venues I work at have free wi-fi. At the few that charge for wi-fi, you gotta ask the catering manager for the free password. The front desk will never provide it.

For the record, it's rare that I need or even want to download a song at an event. At those where I do download, it's rare that I download more than one song.

I use the options available if necessary but like Dave its a rarity. After all I have been in this game for 30+ yrs collecting music before that with subscriptions and pools etc my library is rarely missing most any possible options. Much like DJ software I played with it over the yrs and finally implemented what stable options to alleviate any risk of failure.
