I'm not sure if these are related, but since I registered online to attend the Mobile Beat road tour, I am suddenly receiving a lot of DJ related junk emails.

I hope they aren't selling our email addresses? Do they do that?

That is not spam, it is information. How else would you know what is out there and whats new?

This is an old practice. And it's why I don't give out my email addy.

Yup, you better believe your contact info is being distributed. If you give 'em a business card they'll have your phone number, too. Same goes for website address... your contact form will be misused to promote SEO services among other unwelcome pitches.

By definition, spam or junk email is unsolicited; in this case anything that isn't directly connected to the MB road tour.

I sign up to places creating a new email address each and every site I join

if I get the same email addressed from the same person with different addresses
then I know its SPAM and if it is then its in the bin and added to the spamlist and when I know where
its from I also bounce emails back to the site as spam to say if I get this crap i'll make sure you get it back...

I have never had any hassles again with a lot of sites...

I recommend setting up a quicky email for those sorts of things.

Either use one of the online things like gmail or yahoo, create an email account, use it to get the information you need, then delete it, or...

I use my own domains, since I get like 1000 email accounts per domain, and have hundreds of domains. I just create a temp email account, use it for its purpose, then trash it :)

Thats what I do too but I scan the e-mails too because as with any advertising, some may be beneficial and others plain junk.
