Need some help setting up my equipment.
Hi this is my first time here and my first post.

Anyway, I was minding my own business when a friend got sick and had to sell his brand new DJ equipment. He was buying equipment a little at a time until he had everything but then got sick and had to sell. I thought well I've been looking for something else to do, so why not. Unfortunately he moved out of state and is no condition to give me advice anymore.
Here is what I bought. All brand new with a few hours of playing time just to see it work.

Denon X1500s mixer
Nutech DDS80 with an upgraded 500 gig drive.
1- set B-52 matrix 2000 speaker system
2- Peavey SP4 speakers
1- BBE ds26 crossover
1- Behringer EP4000 Amp
Chauvet Obey 40
Also a brand new home built quad core PC box made for Karaoke with the CompuHost software. Dual video card.
VovoPro receiver for 4 wireless mics and the mics.
1- 8X10 DJ Projector screen with the truss sysytem from djscreen
1- Vivetek D330WX
Dell Inpsiron all in one Pc system for the CompuHost software. For independent sign up of singers and songs.

OK, well I really don't know that much about this stuff and need some feedback on how certain things work.
For instance. He had the 2 lines coming from the mixer to the 2 in 6 out BBE crossover. then 2 came out of the BBE to the amp and then to the SP4's. The other two lines coming from the BBE went directly to the Matrix Sub and from there to the other 2 smaller B-52 speakers.
Well that seems to work pretty good. It's very loud and sounds pretty good to me.
The thing is that I want to add an SP218 dual sub woofer and I guess it would also need another Ep4000 for power.
The problem I am having is with the BBE. I don't understand how you get so many cables from speakers to only 2 lines from the mixer.
I have been trying to understand the BBE and from what it looks like you can't have 6 speakers coming out working correctly with each other. Do I need something different? Is there a better way to do it? Please don't tell me well you should have gotten a whatever.
I have what I have to work with and that's the bottom line. I just need to make the best of it however I can.
I don't know enough but I was seeing that the speakers have pass through . Is that something that I can take advantage of without having to buy anything new? I was thinking if that works I could run the matrix speakers through the SP4's. I don't know, that's why I am here guys. What you help me with.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Welcome to the board.
In what city do you live?
What are you trying to accomplish, DJ/Karaoke Host Business, Hobbyist?
Are there any Pro Sound Companies in your area?

Tell us a bit more about yourself. A lot of the members here have a good bit of info to share, but normally want to learn a bit about the person first.

My name is Matthew Edwards. I was 22when I got out of college and my first job was working at a radio station idol 1360 am in fort worth, Texas. The same station that george carlin was fired from before he decided to become a comedian. I worked there for 7 years. We took that station from dead last in the dew area up to 12th. I had a nightly show and worked sales during the day. It was the best and most fun job I ever had. We had write offs with most of the restaurants and bars in the stockyards and pretty much never paid for anything. Eventually they sold the station to a religious nut and that was that. Since I have become a computer store owner for 11years after working fi Microsoft for another 8. So. Have a lot of experience with computers and actually quite a bit with audio video setup. But this is a little different. I need help with the setup as I described.
Joker quit hijacking my thread. Even if he didn't give me license which he did, I would have others anyway. In pretty much have access to anything like that that I want. The hard drive did not come loaded but I happen to gave a huge cd library and iTunes collection. My website will be setup with software that will allow my clients to choose the type if music and any sings they want to hear, so I can buy anything I need before hand. Doesn't take much to figure that out.
Anyway any actual help on the actual subject would be appreciated.
Sorry I havent responded but I take my family up o the mountains for a month every summer in new Mexico to get out of the 120 heat in Arizona....

Thanks

Memece, not sure why you seem offended by Joker. He speaks the truth. We don't know you nor what you have, etc.

If he didn't give you the license, you have others anyway? Others that you may have may not legally cover this instance. If I sell my Windows machine to you, I have to give you the license, unless you go buy a new version and get your own license or transfer the license from another machine (which would make that instance not legal for use anymore).

'Pretty much having access to anything like that' is all well and good, as long as it is done legally - having said that, it directly conflicts with the statement 'I have what I have to work with and that's the bottom line. I just need to make the best of it however I can'. We don't practice nor promote anything illegal here.

To add, as stated before, you must also legally own the music you intend to use. If it was ripped digitally, then you also need to own the original CD media.

Joker was giving you useful information.

Joker quit hijacking my thread.

Welcome Matt. I don't think he hijacked anything. He simply showed a legitimate concern in a world full of cheaters and anonymous forum feeders. When a new screen name appears looking for advice, it's usually someone looking for a free lunch. Sometimes applying pressure or a little hazing will weed out the real "jokers".

Rob is one of our top members and a great guy. I'm sure you'll get a chance to see that and more soon enough. Like Mac said, introducing one's self is a great start.

Look I didn't come here to cause problems or to be immediately interrogated by the dj police. I joined because I thought there might be some knowledgeable people hat could help me out with legitimate concerns. I can understand after maybe introducing himself and welcoming me and maybe even offer just a little help, he might come back and ask nicely what's up with certain things. But the first words out o his pc is are you legit? Not cool. What I mean I have access to most licences is I own and run a computer shop and have licenses all over my shop. Just reinstall with a new license, simple and legal. And as I stated in my last post my music collection is my own he did not have any with e equipment.
Now can we get back to maybe giving somevadvise on the questions I had?
If not that's cool too. Not everything works out... I would just advise you to treat your new customers, members with a little more respect orvwith a little more kindness. For those who were nice, thanks.
Matthew

thanks Matt for your formal introduction. We work as businesses these days with many challenges many times to do with wannabes coming in buying a cheap system and providing totally pirated library. Its obvious you are not in that ream. trust me if you grow some thick skin you will gain serious free info here if not I apologize for your inconvenience.

Oh also officer, I do nothing illegal, if you read my first post the reference I made about what I have is what I have was refferingbto the bbe, speakers etc not music or licenses. What a bunch of frigging retards. First you can't read then you immediately stomp on any new members because that will clear out the leeches? Yea it will also clear out any proffessional business people who don't want to be harassed by people hat think they know more than everyone else, but you what, I I have to tell you this then you don't and won't understand it anyway.

Well, we "retards" know how to hook up our own gear where you do not. I guess it's time for you to Google the manuals.

I apologize if you were assumed upon, but you can accredit that to the screw-ups before you that built the harsh exterior. However, coming back with heated name calling isn't exactly painting a "professional" business picture either. Just because you acquired the equipment and library doesn't mean you can plug in and join the ranks of professional entertainers.

Your casual approach of "well I've been looking for something else to do, so why not?" was a huge red flag to wave in a room full of veteran entertainers. So in the future, if you don't want to be "stomped on", try giving some thought and respect to the people you want help from.

I have been dj'ing almost 30 years, and i have asked some dumb questions, sometimes it just takes two heads to think it out, but to those of us guys who have done it with blood, sweat and tears, a newbie asking weird questions can get you on the wrong side quick, these guys are the best, consider them brothers, we respect each others, good luck my friend

Matt I ment no disrespect.... but, I also do not deserve your diatribe of what is and isn't appropriate behavior or questions to be posed in this or any other thread. My question was based on the limited if not complete lack of background information not to mention your initial post made you sound like a complete noob who has suddenly come into possesion of gear he knows nothing about.... indicating that possibly there are other things he doesn't realize are legit questionable acts.

As a DJ professional and having been bit by piracy in the form of losing jobs due to some theif possesing more music and then undercutting because of that lack of investment you can understand the trepidation folks in this profession have about helping someone with seemingly limited background.

With that said, I thank you for filling in the blanks... and feel there is no further need for explanation or proof of legitamite operations... I am willing to forgive the "Retard" comment and further I'd like to extend a hand in welcomeing you to this board with no ill feelings.

Welcome aboard Matt! :)

I think you will be better served this way. Place an ad in Craigslist in your area for help to setup your gear. Do a Barter trade for Computer work so that the person helping you can be compensated for their time. If you do not want to go that route, then contact a Pro Sound retailer in your area and one of their techs would gladly assist you for a small fee.

The reason why others and myself were asking all the questions in the beginning is because we are not in the business of condoning or promoting anything that may have the semblance of illegal practices in our industry. The questions were not accusations, just a request for clarification or more info. Many of us make a living DJing and when someone comes in to do what we do, for free, we don't take too kindly to such practices. Its takes food away from the table.

Good Luck!

Geez! What ever happened to this guy? If you are "lurking" perhaps you should come back and give it another try. We don't as a group hold grudges. :)

Wow......this went bad in a hurry but if Rob forgives so shall I. Here is how I will do it someone correct me if I am wrong.

Denon X1500s mixer (out) connected to (in) of BBE ds26 crossover then from (out) of BBE crossover to input of Behringer EP4000 Amp (BTW I wouldn't get caught using this amp in an event) No offense to you. Then from Behringer EP4000 Amp to speakers

That is for the audio let someone else tell you about the Kareoke maybe some of the guy's you called retards really know how to set it up! LOL...........:triwink:
