Below is the message I received after the purchase was made for my 6 song DJ Special for $19.99. Yeah, it bothered me a bit. Not that I need his support but that he has no idea how hard I've worked and and how hard it is to do what I do independently...

I will not ever tell anyone about your music. I promise, when people ask who the artist was, I am going to make it up. NO WAY should I be paying $20 to pay 2 songs and promote you. Good luck selling your music, won't ever tell anyone who you are, won't even give them the right titles.

I had posted his actual contact details to air him out a bit considering he's got a pretty big DJ operation. But...this is a DJ forum...and obviously some are not going to like me calling him out. Anyway, I've reposted the message above. It is what it is. I think it's pretty tasteless. I don't believe this is a reflection of all DJs, but it only takes a few. I get messages like this a few times a month from DJs. I do receive more positive messages so that is a big plus!

I think you're allowed to rant, but I also think that it's in poor taste to make this person's information public. Regardless of the content or manor in which it was submitted, it was submitted to you, not us. Take the criticism for what is is and move on. You can't please everybody.

Will do Hank. I'll remove his details...Although I didn't think it was in poor taste posting his contact details since they are already public and considering the comments that were made give a negative image to all the great DJs out there.

It is what it is...

Wow! I can't believe someone would first of all take a gift and then turn around and punch the gift giver in the mouth like that.... so you don't like the music so what? Who are you playing the music for yourself or your client? Who's more important?

I play a lot of music I don't like but I don't go running to Eminem and tell him his music sucks after getting it...

I also agree with Hank but it just shows you the genius mentality of some DJs who complain about cheap clients always trying to get a DJ on the cheap yet complaining when something costs them more than free. We all love a bargain. If it costs too much for some DJs they simply can refuse to purchase and push the price on to the Bride along with acquiring the song. I bet bottom dollar (cause I must be cheap) that said DJ would have ripped a copy for himself if the bride had offered it.

I bought A Mothers Song last year for a client and I actually think it's a pretty good song. It's on my suggested Mother/Son song list with you listed as the song writer. I did download your free offering this weekend and although I haven't un zipped them yet and have a listen, I'm sure many will go on my list.

DJs are a funny bunch. When someone they compete with doesn't charge enough they consider them a bottom feeder, when someone they sell to wants it cheaper they are a PITA but when they go to buy they seem to think they should get everything for nothing.

Sorry to hear Tony. I have purchased your music in the past and I did think it was expensive but it made my client happy that's all that counts. Thanks for not painting all of us with the same brush

Tony, I too am saddened by the unwarranted and unnecessary correspondence. I agree; let it go and move on. Life is too short to dwell on stuff like that.

One of the drawbacks to this crazy biz: it's littered with egotists, narcissists and chronic complainers. I have been slumming on DJ forums sites for many years and have seen it all too often. I've had the displeasure of dealing with 'em on eBay, too.

Practically every vendor who supports this business has taken at least one beating from so-called DJ companies that, in my opinion need psychiatric help, not a business service or product. One may hope that these guys do not treat their clients in a like manner.

Thankfully, the problem children are a minority. You're providing a needed service to this business. That's what really matters.

Sad part is I bet you I can guess who it was.

I bought A Mothers Song previously too. Lovin' the other stuff too.

The price you charge for a limited circulation song is probably pretty reasonable. When you count the writing, studio time, distribution costs. It can't be cheap. I have several of your song in my library and recommend them often. Thank you for your free downloads, I am sure they will come in handy as well. And to put things in perspective, look at us DJ's. We get paid hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars just to stand there play music and look pretty.....:tribiggrin::tribiggrin:

Tony,

Your talent and generosity do not go unnoticed by those you'd likely rather associate. Such miserable people are like septic parasites. Avoid letting such idiots get to you.

It is their M.O. to attack, out of jealousy and ignorance, those with more talent, skill, ability, work ethic, and the resulting good fortune created thereby, in an effort to drag their superiors down into the festering quagmire in which they suffer.

Translation (mostly for Ricky, Tuck, and Canute): F 'em

They don't know the money it takes to produce a song, like copyrights, permission to use the beats, my son(15 yrs old) is in recording so I know, its takes money to produce a song.
Keep up the positive work you do, I love the songs and my clients too.
Good Luck
