EL PASO TEXAS
ok i have a request for a songs to play during the dollor dance..now i do know the typical mexican songs, but i have a wedding tomorrow that is half white and half mexicans. and they want some english songs to start off with..what do you all play for the dollar dances?

We ask the bride beforehand for dollar dance music suggestions. If she says "whatever" we'll try to keep it uptempo with family-friendly tracks.

I dunno how it is in Texas. Around these parts, the dollar (or honeymoon) dance can last longer than one or two songs. It depends mostly on how long the B&G wish to participate. We have a few continuous mix CDs we use for this.

You've Got a Friend" sung by James Taylor

The dollar dance - that is what would make me want to give it all up.

Oops! wrong thread.

sorry we dont do that here - so cant give suggestions!

I have done maybe one in 9 yrs here in Canada. The last one was a Filipino Wedding and its customary for them however the many done since have not implemented it either. Thank goodness. The Chinese do it much more subtle with close family members etc joining in a tea ceremony where they will gain many envelopes with gifts of money inside. Other cultures like the Italians etc have their own special ways of showing class in resepct for providing the same results.

I have never asked clients to give me suggested songs. That is why they hired me. I typically choose songs that are easy to slow dance to that most guests are familiar with.

In your situation it wouldn't hurt to ask for some Mexican slow song ideas.
