Right now I think I want to keep stuff on Picnik or Flickr, but I am opep to just about anything. I use the free Photocbucket service, but I want something that feels a little more elegant when you use it and view photos.

What's yer purpose...?

Is this something you want potential clients to view, or just storage for yourself?

I get somewhat annoyed by most photo sharing sites, and the people that send me there. If it's just for friends and family, that's fine, but not for business purposes. It's lame -- like you don't care enough about the client to actually pay for something...
 
For business purposes I'd use a php powered one like Gallery 2 or Coppermine. It's layout is controlled by CSS and templates so you can customize it to look how ever you want. For a point of reference, Chuck's bikini gallery is powered by Gallery2 I believe.

For personal stuff I mostly use my Dropbox and email links to individual pictures. For larger albums I Picasa's web albums or Facebook.

Kirby mentioned his nephew having a file sharing service a while back -- I believe it had an integrated photo gallery maybe that's something to check into.

Well it could be for both, but I have paid for the better services of different companies. I just don't really like photobucket pro anymore. I am now considering www.smugmug.com - looks elegant and has all I want / need.

Dennis, whatever I do, I need SIMPLICTY.... I can't even build a website. I think it is more for ME.

i'll get a few and set them on mine and show you
then you can email me for details

Be sure to read the site agreements and make sure you aren't giving up your copyright... seen one site that does just that...

I just clicked the link... Dropbox is more just storage than what I want, which is a nice looking gallery with a way for people to view photos, and buy copies.

I didn't quite understand what you wanted to do by your first post hence my first reply was useless to you, D'oh.

I found this too: http://blogs.photopreneur.com/an-easy-way-to-sell-your-photo-prints-online . I wouldn't put much stock in at is the article reads like a paid review to me but as always YMMV.
 
+1 on Picasa. Very generous space, on the freebie account and their editor is great, especially for us wanna-be photogs. I love how they'll drop the watermark on the photos when they're uploaded, no to mention there's a ton of slideshow templates that can be easily integrated into your own site.
 
oh and another Project is to find storage places for Photos, Music etc and have it in a blog here
so while you guys wait keep any ideas/sites listed for me to add....

it will be done just I have to compile it all
