OK, I'm not asking for opinions on whether I should do this, because I have already decided to do it.

I'm organizing a block party for my neighborhood. I have already made the flier. I'll be putting them in people's mailboxes this weekend. And I will have a PBnJ Parties business card attached. I figure that besides letting them know I am a DJ, it gives them contact info, and possibly might make people more likely to attend if they know a DJ will be handling the music.

But if it was your business, would you send the business card?

The what? LOL.... No way I would ever live in an area with an association. No way. But maybe you mean that for yourself, because I already made my decision.

Nay to putting the stuff in peoples mailboxes.

I may sound like a killjoy, but given the current climate of fear in this country (and postal regulations), would it be a wise idea at the moment to put stuff in people's mailboxes yourself...?

Let's face it -- the odds are, that some Libyan fanatic, or Osama follower are going to try and blow some of US up. You, being new to your neighborhood, and going around putting stuff in peoples mailboxes, are going to be subject to much scrutiny, if not a cavity search.


Again, not trying to be a killjoy, but now is not a really good time to go around putting unsolicited stuff in people's mailboxes... ;)

But around here people drive around and put stuff in mailboxes all the time, illegal or not.... Maybe I'll get my much more known next door neighbor to help spread the word.

OT, but the multi-quote thing is very flaky in this version of vB. I've mentioned it to Danno, and he's been working on it...

You laugh but I think that's the better idea presented yet.... get a bunch of colorful bags with handles and hang them from doors... Put a ballon in it with instructions to blow it up and bring it to the party... maybe even include a bottle of bubble juice for good measure.

I can't speak for you dudes -- but if I saw somebody putting something in my mailbox, or attaching it to my front door knob -- they'd most likely end up in the river, or as mulch.

Perhaps I live too close to gangland, but I give no quarter here...

There are only certain people allowed to tread on the property. I have to meet and greet them before they are allowed.


If Osama would have hired me -- he'd still be alive... ;)
 
As a postal employee I can tell you that it is illegal to put anything in or on a mailbox. Don't know about your carriers, but, when we find stuff in the boxes we collect it and bring it back to the office where it is destroyed. The person is also either called with a warning, or sent a bill to cover the postage for the pieces that don't even exist anymore! I wouldn't risk it. A little party bag on the door or a simple doorhanger should do nicely. Not trying to be a wet blanket...just looking out for your back!

LOL, in my area, when someone comes to your door, they are usually bringing gifts or just dropping by to say hello. I can't tell you how much I love this neighborhood.

Meh.... won't happen here.

EDIT.... I live on a culd de sac with a lot of room between homes. There are 5 houses on it. All five families will be in attendance, and I don't expect it will get super loud. Though I do plan on using a video projector with an XBOX 360 and Kinnect for having people dance.
