Who has a contract with a SEO company? Are you happy with them? Or should I stay away from SEO companies? I had a meeting with Reach Local, and it was 500 a month. I'm thinking about learning to optimize my own site to safe money. Also, there is a lot negative about SEO companies.

I'm almost positive Reach Local is NOT and SEO company, but rather and SEM. They just do google ad-words placement.
I do my own SEO and I've been hired to do SEO for other companies.
Do you do your own website, or does someone else? If you do it then you should try SEO, if someone else does it, hire a company to do it.

Guess I'm a bottom feeder I would be willing to do your SEO for $300 and actually get you results :triwink: Even cheaper if I get to liking you :triwink:

BTW first thing I thought too Danno

Peeps... I get a call about once a week or bi-weekly from those CRACKPOTS:trimad: About 70-80% of my clients come from word of mouth or repeats for parties, schools and reunions.

Thanks, Im building my own website. During the process I think I will read some books on doing my own SEO. 500 is way to much. And I just don't trust Local Reach.

$500 a month, will buy you some decent advertising, that will make you real money.

SEO is a crock of sh_t. The internet is an advert based media now.

I don't know if I 100% believe that, but I do know my Google ads get more business than native search. And I pay about $12 a month to advertise on Google. I think I once paid $30 in a month.

DON'T DO REACH LOCAL!!! They tried to hire me when I was in the US = load of bollocks and I told them so too.

This is not spam - Don't go with an "seo company" unless you know them and if you do know them and they are too intense about seo I would say they are full of ****

Thanks Wavy Davy... Their is something shady about most SEO companies. I'm Going to sign up for Goggle Ad and Google maps. Lets see... I should safe about $450.

If you find a good company that can help you with SEO, then they might just be worth it. For example, it is 4am in the morning over here and I just looked over my analytics (20 minutes) tweaked some on-site stuff for my banquet hall site (10 minutes), scheduled (2) posts on two different sites for 9am tomorrow (25 minutes), just checked to make sure an article on one of my sites was index (10 seconds) and then pushed it into a bunch of directories (35 minutes), added videos to some internal pages on sites to improve the time on site (2 minutes). If you add up all these little updates over a month is can be over 300 hours!

What is your current marketing method for online?
How much time does it take you?
How much is your time worth?
How much would you pay someone to do this for you?

If they did ALL the things I do daily, for only $500 a month, that breaks down into $1.66 per hour to SEO my site... I would be stupid to pass it up! Obviously no one in their right mind would do that amount of work for $500. So the next question is what are you getting for $500 a month?

Google maps is easy to rank. Organic rankings for keywords take time, I don't care what anyone tells you. If you have patience and can sit in front of a computer for hours to rework content then try doing it yourself. There is a lot more involved but the DYI approach would save you some money. Can't really screw it up unless you start having multiple domains point to one site/push duplicate content/keyword stuff/hide text/jackup your .htaccess file. Avoid the blackhat tactics that are considered bad juju it should keep you on the straight and narrow.

I still do it myself because I enjoy the thrill. The day I have 2 different domains pop up in the number 1 and number 2 spots in google I will take a break. Until then I still have competitors nipping at my heals.

want some SEO ebooks - I have heaps here

Thanks... Im finding out that it is best to go google to find the best tips. great link.

I've said before that if I did get an article together on how to do well on the Internet/Google it would be a few pages - Do this then do that

It would be about five pages long and if anyone followed it to the letter they would rank well.

I would also advise on putting your money where your mouth is as Greg does.

I would spend about $1000 a year on advertising - period.

Oh how I wish I had gone multi in the SF Bay Area

D :)

Where exactly would you spend that $1000.00? I was thinking of going back on Party Pop and Gig Masters.
