I own the Zxa1s and use them every week. They sound really good. That said, they are NOT very loud and I've seen the same thing you mention. If you hit them with a lot of juice, they limit.

Gained properly you should never have this problem.... since you'll never hit them with more than they can handle....

Geeze people these aren't ZXA5 15" tops they are 8" and therefore have much lower limits than their bigger brothers....

Curious thought.... at one time people were bad mouthing the K series of speakers.... what's changed?

They sound really good... I'll give you that. Take a pair of ZXa1s and anyone will say they sound nice, especially with laid back music at nominal volume levels. Now, put that pair against some K8's and most anyone will say the QSC's sound clearer, better and louder. If I owned the ZXa1's, I'd never tout about their 800watt rating as this would only disappoint a lay person with lofty expectations from the high "watts" rating.

When paired with a good sub, they do a lot more than just an "adequate" job. They're good speakers. All I was saying is the loudness is not as much as I would've expected.

Are y'all still talking about dem computer speakers? :yorofl:

Guys please what are you expecting? You cant haul a semi trailer with a VW Bug it aint gonna happen. Jeez azz.

Yes, I agree you are comparing apples to oranges.
Used in the right setting the ZXA1s are excellent (ceremonies, small parties Etc.) ....Wedding receptions, school dances, Etc? Only a fool would try it. These are not made for larger dance parties.

Why not compare the QSCs to Mackie SM450s, Etc.?

this is exactly the reason why people should stop comparing the zxa1 to k series. It is because of comparisons like these that made me waste time reading so many reviews just to find out that it is not an appropriate comparison. The Ks can go louder than many bigger boxes, espesially cheaper ones like wharfedale titan 12 or 15, both active and passive. The passive titans even when driven with 1000 watt qsc amp sound weaker than the Ks

I have the whole QSC HPRi series. Love them. I'm using a DBX Driverack PX to control the setup.

On another note, I've been reading but not posting much..... still on the Chemo for my illness.....one day at a time.

Best,

Paul

I have an out of topic question. Have anyone opened up the QSC Ks before? I couldn't find any manufacturers name on the drivers. I heard they should be Celestion Truvox Drivers but can anyone verify what are the exact drivers for K10 woofer and tweeter?

Meanwhile, I'm so excited because I'm getting my 2nd pair of K10s next week!

MAde in China it could be anything and they will tell you sure you want to call it Celstion Truvox no problem hang on dude can you make a sticker for that mystery meat driver... Please call it Sell Less Toyongs True Vawks. Thanks that will be 29 cents thanks!!

Just browsing around, and saw this thread and made an account here on OurDJtalk. I own QSC K12's, K8's and KSubs. And yes, they all use CELESTION drivers. I have opened up all models, even the K10 which a friend of mine owns. The K12 does use the Celestion TF1225e Truvox woofer (300W rms), but all others use a custom variation of Truvox drivers. All K models (except K12) have a 40 oz (or so) double stacked magnet, but uses the same Celestion Truvox steel baskets and cones. Don't know about voice coil specs though, but all have 2.5" VC except the K8, it a 2". As far as the tweeter, it is Celestion as well with a Neodymium magnet. I believe it's the same driver used in the HPR, and as well as the KW. Now about this Made In China thing. Yes the Celestion drivers are also Made in China. It's probably the reason QSC uses them for cost efficiency. But what I don't thing most people know, is that Celestion owns the factory in China, and all that factory makes is speakers for Celestion and Celestion only! If you look on many guitar forums, many people will say they hear no difference in sound from England and China made Celestion guitar speakers. That's because the manufacturing standards and processes have stayed the same, but the labor is now cheaper. Just my 2 cents. Love my QSC stuff..hope this answers some questions or concerns.

Thanks Cris for your informative reply. I only wonder, how do you know it's celestion truvox since it is not written anywhere on the driver? In your opinion, how many watts are the K10 woofers? 250Wrms? How many watts do you think the tweeters are?

I got another question. I just realized that QSC doesn't recommend leaving the HF switch on vocal boost for loud full range music. It is stated in the manual. Is this because of potential damage to the HF? I'm now thinking twice if it is wise to leave it on vocal boost and hit the limit light.. don't wanna do anything wrong.

Btw, how do you guys think the k10 bass response is compared to the k12? Is it that much of difference? I'm asking about real application here.. not specs.. I used 4 K10s (2 as delay fills) for a 200 pax dinner without sub today and it did a great job.. Only hit limit on rare peaks of music.

I love my QSC too.. I'm just thinking that I might need 2 QSC subs..but wonder if KW is much better than Ksub.. and whether the extra price is justified.

Celestion is made in China and they do own the factory, sort of. A huge Chinese bought Celestion and is making the speakers in their factory, where they were already making speakers long before they bought out Celection. I heard the first powered 18 inch subs put out by QSC and wasn't impressed. With that being said, they can only get better I would think. I know they released the first generation with some issues with limiters, I guess they didn't want to miss the boat with all the other similar product hitting the market from the competition.

Btw, guitar amp speakers are far different than woofers and compression drivers built for professional sound reinforcement applications.

The 10's i would imagne are about 250w rms, and the tweeters should be 75w. The woofers do have a QSC label on the magnet, but the overall construction and look are those of the Truvox line. Though the only woofer I found to be an exact model match on Celestion's website was the woofer in the K12. The tweeters in the boxes though, do have a Celestion sticker on them.

Also, you can leave the vocal boost on for music playback. It is just a setting that QSC feels it is not suited for. I asked Bob Lee @ QSC and he said you can run the switches any way you like to your own taste. The limiters prevent any damage to you drivers and amp. So if you like the sound of Vocal Boost & DEEP, you can run them both at the same time without damaging anything.

Ok I feel much more relieved now as I've been working with vocal boost and really loud. I've opened up my K10. Both woofer and tweeter do not have any Celestion stickers. Is there a difference with models shipped to Asia with models shipped to the states? I'm from Asia btw. I hope it is same throughout the world..
