Actually, could you go back to the old ones (or something different)...?
The new monkey heads are too close in color, so I have to look twice at it to see whether it's on or off. I use the red skin, so they sorta blend in...
This of course, gives me less overall time to troll the forum, and think up witty responses to things I have no clue about...

Dunno, I showed the change on the red skin just by refreshing. Try clearing your cache.

And that's what I see -- but it's still too hard to differentiate at a quick glance. Do you have a green Coco The Monkey, that could show the online status...?

It just doesn't stand out on the red skin -- green would stand out like it did before, because there's nothing else green on there... Let's face it, you don't use red uplights against a red wall, do you...?
