I like the setup. Do you use this outside in the sun? How do you shield the screen?

Andy

Good question, Andy. I use my laptop at outdoor gigs (in a tent) or sheltered area, but still get near "white out" due to the lack of contrast. I even went to see if I could find a privacy screen to attach to laptop screen, couldn't find the 17" size at the time...did witout it for that gig. I even thought about making some kind of two-sided "blinders" kind of like what you see on carriage horses. The operative word there is "thought!" LOL

In case it's not clear to everyone yet, laptop coolers are a scam sold to home users who don't know any better. Other than the odd Dell which requires a fireproof surface, laptops are designed to be used as shipped. I've been in the PC industry for 20-ish years and have never seen one. We currently have about 10,000 laptops in use at my day job and none of them have a cooler.

You're right and I should know better. I have a fan cooler that I bought as a convenient powered hub. The USB wire that connects it to the computer has failed. I'm pitching the whole unit and not replacing it.

I haven't used this particular set-up, but I've used my laptop in the sun many times for ceremonies. It's not easy to see, but I manage for the 20-30 minutes I need to for the ceremony.
