It's not so much that I'm "showing it off", it's that I don't know why more of us aren't taking matters into our own hands. Most gear cases are designed for rack systems and are up and down towers rather than side to side cases. Also, many people buy gear around what the cases will accommodate. I found it much better to build the case around what I wanted to bring.

You really don't need more than basic building skills to make one of these things. If you own some tools and can do basic math, then go for it!

My table system includes a laptop, t1 mixer, wireless mic, and a fold up tabletop stand for my laptop. Got it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $30. The mixer sits on the stand with the laptop and the wireless mic unit and back up stuff goes underneath.

It goes out to whatever system i'm plugging into. Usually a L1 model 2, but sometimes a compact.

i'll take a pic when I remember too.

Here is what's typically behind the facade. I took the pic before putting the facade up to make it easier to see.

The only thing that's not in the picture is the pacemaker I typically use for instant back up, which is about the size of an oversized ipod.

I haven't been using the denon 2500 lately, but when I do use it, it would sit right in front of the laptop stand.

I'm still working on my cart. Once I have it done I will post some pics. I have found that it will hold all my mixers. Even my rack system. Its a black cart. I've already ordered the skirting which was made just for this cart. It will surround it and be attached by velcro surrounding the cart lip and the velcro is also sewn into the skirt. I have used a 2 inch hole saw and added one hole on top for the wires to go to the second level of the cart.

I have cut 3 holes on the bottom level. One for power to go through and one on each side length ways of the cart so speaker wires can come out. The idea here is to have a smaller mixer a wireless mic setup and all the wires for my laptop to be prewired so that all I need to do is bring the cart in and put the skirt on. Plug the power in and be ready to go. Again once it is done I will post some pics. This is not my idea there are a few DJ's that have done this and it works very well. I also have a DJ facade Pipe and drape setup that If I so desire I could setup a 4 foot portion of that and Hide it if I choose to.

I'm not sure what the point of that question is. You (we) have been doing this long enough to know what's required for the jobs contracted. The console has much less to do with what size group you can handle than your amps and speakers (that's common sense, right?). I could plug an ipod into the sound system at a rock concert and play for thousands.


Personally, I don't wish to play for groups larger than 200. My system and style reflects that. I would think that the same formula applies to all of us.

That system has many uses so the answer to your question will be thus:
I have used that system in a room for a corporate business after hours and there were about 200 people there. It was not for dancing. It was for background music and announcements.
I have used it outdoors poolside for music and PA (There is a special mic made by Bose for it)
I have rented it to corporations who used it at training sessions.
I have also used it for Breakfast meetings (Background Music and Announcements)
I used it in a club once when the power went out and there were about 75 people there at the time. (It can run on 10 D Cells). It is simply plug and play.
At weddings I have used it for rehearsals.
I also used it as a monitor speaker for myself at finer events.

I run it to about 100 to 150 people. If the crowd is bigger, I run a second L-1.
I also have a small system in a custom built case.
Consists of an old cassette case, gutted, a 2 channel battle board on the front right. A VGA converter box behind the mixer so I can plug into any video for Karaoke or slideshows. In the middle front is my laptop. Behind is cables. In the left front is my wireless receiver and behind the reciever is a power strip. If I need another wireless, I set the receiver behind the laptop over the cables behind laptop. Total weight? 10 to 14 pounds.
