raffle off a show by selling tickets at say $20.00 each
limit the raffle to only 100 buyers and the winner

wins a free show (gig) that you have raffeled off
the cost of the show you get and anything over you should donate to a local charity

so 100 tickets @ 20.00 each = $2000.00
say you charged $1500 for a 6x hr show then the balance to donate is $500

so if anyone tell me where you are if that is possible to do or a good idea
then i'll know...

but you can set your own conditions as well

like what day its for
but it has to be for a 5hr min show (it either a wedding, etc type)

so what say you guys - good idea or ?
I dont know if you can do something like that in your area or not

I'm not saying I wouldn't do it, because I might, but technically that might not be legal where I live.

Still, I like outside the box thinking.... and I have my own "$1 Wedding"..... no, the B & G don't pay $1... and I do it once a year, every year, and the people who get it are thrilled.

In the U.S., it's mostly a State issue. A group that I'm affiliated with looked into it awhile back. If it's allowed here, its basically only for non-profit charitable organizations (with a minimum of 50% of the net profits donated), and schools. YMMV.

Interesting idea


Challenges:

1) Legality...not sure if it's legal here.

2) Finding 100 people that want to spend $20 for a chance to win a DJ. How many people are going to spend $20 on a raffle ticket if it's not something they have an immediate need for?

If it is legal, why not sell raffle tickets on your website, winner gets their DJ service paid for, plus $500 towards the wedding. At least with people visiting the website you know have a need for a DJ.

well as I said - you have to think outside the box and you would be supprised on how it can be adapted to the needs you have

remember part can be DONATED to Charity

we have things like that happening all year here for our Telethon
and it is what I can do...

How it all started
It all began in 1968 when a group of senior executives from Channel 7 Perth established Telethon with a 20 hour non-stop program broadcast from the studios of Channel Seven Perth, which raised $104,829, a huge amount of money back then- for the Children’s Medical Research Foundation based at Princess Margaret Hospital. It was to become the longest non-stop program presented in WA, and its success was a sign of good things to come.

oh and they allow IE6 too (maybe we donated 200 pcs to them last year with free winxp)

DESPITE a global recession, Channel Seven's 42nd Telethon still managed to raise a staggering $6.4 million for charity.

The total amount donated continued to climb over the last two days as donations poured in from viewers around WA and Australia-wide.

Big numbers were added to the Telethon tally as the Federal Government donated $1.5 million to Telethon, which supports Princess Margaret Hospital and the children who suffer from various life-threatening illnesses.

The State Government also donated $250,000 to the cause and the two Telethon homes collected just over 1.4million between them.
